ALERT ALABAMA ROT
There have been cases reported in the Cannock chase and Sutton park areas. The most recent dog to die from this disease was a week ago. Symptoms include, red sores or ulcers on the chest, mouth and below elbows and knees and leads to kidney failure within 10 days. 9 out of 10 dogs die from it. There is no know cure at present but early intervention may save your dogs life. So to you are advised to wash your dogs legs and chest off after each muddy walk as this is where itβs thought that the disease is contracted and try to keep to drier tracks. Symptoms include redness, sores or ulcer type marks on any ( not all) of the areas mentioned, after 2-7 days, signs of kidney failure are present, unusual tiredness, reduced appetite and possibly vomiting. Keep a keen eye open and pass this on to doggy folk when walking in the above areas. This disease is still considered to be rare, lets keep it that way.
