Have any of our followers ever grown pumpkins?

Earlier this year I found a self set young plant in our polytunnel. Didn't have a clue what it was, but it looked very like a courgette plant.

So considering it had made it that far I felt it deserved a chance to stay and grow, so left it there and promptly forgot about it.

Moving on a few months, during which time I notice the odd big leaf pop through cabbages, beans and tomatoes until it eventually made it to the clear central path. It even had a couple of golf ball size fruits appear which I had never seen on a courgette plant but it promptly got hidden by it's own leaves, so again I just stopped it going further and let it stay in residence.

I then noticed a couple of football size green ' water melons'.

Anyway as most other vegetables had finished I hadn't been in for a while, so when I did the melons had turned orange πŸ˜….

On clearing spent vegetation I have now found 6 large and 1 small πŸŽƒ πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

This morning I glanced through the window and to my surprise we now have the makings of an Olympic swimming pool right on our doorstep.
I am a little concerned that all the rain dancing everyone has been doing for us at Mardi Gras Upwell has gone a little 'topsy turvey'

Today has been a happy/sad day.

Our last 2 babies of this years kids left for their new home.
While I am sad to say good bye to them and will miss their cheeky antics, I am super happy they have moved to a lovely new home where I'm sure they will be loved and spoilt by their new family. They will be joining another slightly older boy to play with who recently lost his friend so needs cheering up.
They have already met their new pen mate through a fence and now have proper names instead of being 'hi baby boys'.

Neville and Nerris have fun and enjoy yourselves πŸ’™πŸ’™

I had a visitor this morning.

There I was chasing the vacuum around the house. I'd almost done to the back door ready to escape to the great outdoors when I heard the squeak. Oh no thought I, I've broke the thing or got something stuck in the pipe. Turned it off, the squeak continues, maybe a mouse got sucked up, not that I've ever seen a mouse in the house. Opened the door to take off pipe and there is George standing staring at the wall 'what you looking at George'? Popped my head out and there was my little visitor, sitting on the (not used in months) rain coats calling his mum.

Ain't he cute 😍

AT LAST - Floss and co finally got to have a shower overnight. It's a shame it didn't last long enough to rinse them off properly. Though they do seem to be happier this morning ❀️

Best buddies - when little Gerald first arrived at Mardi Gras Upwell a couple of years ago, all he wanted to do was take Basil out and become king of the herd. He even broke through a fence to have a go at big Basil.

Once through the fence, Gerald just kept charging and bashing Basil getting more and more hot and bothered with each attempt to knock him out. After around half an hour Basil still standing calmly, gave Gerald a sideways look, put his head down, they locked horns and Basil gently flipped Gerald over holding him down for what seemed like forever. Once Basil lifted his head and backed away Gerald just got up, walked off across the paddock totally worn out while Basil just carried on eating grass. The rest is history -
Just look at them now.
