Meet lovely Cooper ❤️
Cooper belongs to Leah, one of our Registered Veterinary Nurses. While on holiday in the beautiful Lake District, he suddenly became very poorly.
They very quickly realised what had happened once he had been sick and brought up chicken bones and plastic— proof that these accidents can even happen to us! Cooper then became very quiet, stopped eating, and passed black, tarry diarrhoea which is also known as melena. Leah quickly noticed his gums were extremely pale and that he needed urgent care.
Cooper was rushed to a fantastic local vets where he was checked for internal bleeding and foreign body obstructions (all came back clear). They then stabilised him enough to travel back to Great Ashby. Back with us he had lots of scans, blood tests, fluid therapy and most importantly lots of care, cuddles, and TLC from his Roebuck family🫶🏼
The good news ✨
Cooper is now back to his cheeky self! He’s still having regular blood tests to make sure his anaemia continues to improve, but he’s well on the road to recovery.
A little reminder to keep a close eye on curious pups — they can get into mischief when we least expect it!
Also, if you’re taking your pet away always know where the nearest vet practice is to you!
