⭐️Star patient ⭐️

Meet Thyme! This gorgeous girl stayed with us for the day, undergoing various diagnostic tests. As you can see, she enjoyed her stay with us, having a snooze, snacking on some food and enjoying lots of fuss from our lovely nurses ♥️

We understand that visiting the vets can be a stressful experience for many pets, so we do our upmost to make the visit as relaxing as possible for them 🐈🩺💚

✨🐰Rabbit Awareness Week🐰✨

ENRICHMENT

Rabbits are extremely clever so need lots of mental stimulation, this can be provided through toys and enrichment along with socialisation with people.

It doesn’t have to be expensive, even if you cut a few holes in a cardboard box or fold up a finished cardboard loo roll and hide food in there!

✨🐰Rabbit Awareness Week 🐰✨

VACCINATIONS

Rabbits should be vaccinated every 12 months against Myxomatosis and viral haemorrhagic disease, these diseases are often fatal so it’s extremely important you keep up with these. We vaccinate rabbits from 5 weeks old so the sooner they are protected the better!

If you join our healthy pet club you can get these vaccinations free of charge along side free 6 month health checks to insure your rabbits are as healthy as they can be 💚

HOUSING

Size matters! It is no longer acceptable for rabbits to be housed in just a hutch, they need at least a run connect to it which is L2m x W0.6m x H0.6m but bigger is always better.

You must also make sure the enclosure is predator and escape proof to protect your rabbits.

Rabbits are social animals so should always live with at least one other rabbit, they cannot be housed with gineapigs as both species require different nutritional and husbandry needs

DENTAL HEALTH

Dental disease is the most common health problem found in rabbits, this is usually caused by poor diet and nutrition. Dental disease can result in your rabbit not being able to eat which can cause serious digestive issues which could be deadly.

Ways to prevent dental disease:
- High fibre diet
- Regular vet checks
- Chew toys

❗️DID YOU KNOW: Rabbits teeth continuously grow so it’s important to have vet checks regularly where we can burr down your rabbits teeth if necessary.

NUTRITION

85-90% of a rabbits diet should consist of good quality hay. this is essential for good dental, digestive and behavioural health.

Muesli is NOT an acceptable diet as it increases risk of obesity, dental problems, flystrike and GI conditions.
