Quantock Happy Hackers Riding Club The Quantock Happy Hackers is a riding club for competent riders without their own horse who would you like to go riding regularly in the Quantocks.

We are a unique riding club. We don't compete but go out hacking in small groups. Manor Farm Riding Stables was a trekking centre for many years and has now developed an original concept offering an excellent opportunity to experience horse ownership without needing to own your own horse. Quantock Happy Hackers is a unique riding club. We don’t need to compete, we don’t need to own our horses yet

we have access to fantastic facilities and hacking in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The horses we have are mainly Thoroughbreds, all with exceptional manners, and who offer the potential to help you improve your riding skills either through hacking or using the floodlit, all-weather manege and our on-site instructor. The riding club is for adults, many of whom have returned to riding after a break. Our riders come from all walks of life, making riding out a real social event. We also arrange different social activities, evenings out, picnic rides, fun rides, etc. Being a club member will give you an insight into complete horse ownership as you will be responsible for looking after the horses from your arrival at the yard until they are put back into the field. If you want to check us out, why not become an occasional member and see if this club is for you.

The view between Sovereign's ears. First on Wind Down, where we discovered new tracks after it was closed for forestry work for several months, and then back over Broomfield Hill. We live in such a beautiful area!

Fa-bu-lous! What a beautiful ride we did on Broomfield Hill, Somerset. Blue bells, blue sky, gorgeous horses, no flies (yet) and lovely company.

Are you missing working with horses? Going out for a nice hack? Mucking out a stable and talking to other horsey people?

We can't get enough of this, bluebells on Cothelstone. We (and the horses) also enjoyed a lovely canter :)
Would you like to do this, but you haven't got your own horse?
Are you missing working with horses? Grooming and tacking up, going on a nice ride, poo picking a stable and talking to other horsey people? The Quantock Happy Hackers Riding Club is looking for new members. It's adults only and because of the type of horses we ride, not suitable for beginners.

Bluebells on Cothelstone. They come right down to the track now and are also flowering on the other side. So beautiful! We also heard our first cuckoo of the year :)

Having a 'woosh' on Sovereign. He loved it. Such a good boy!
Orio, cantering behind us, was having a blast too.

What a glorious day for a glorious ride! New tracks have been created by forestry workers. Hard working volunteers have cleared existing tracks of fallen trees and branches. The winter storms made a lot of tracks unrideable, but we can now go off road again, and that's so good. The horses are happier too, because they can have a little canter every now and then.

Thanks to all the hard work of a couple of people, we can ride off road again! The ground has dried up and isn't muddy anymore. Trees that blocked the tracks have been cut or diversions created. The leaves of the blue bells are creating a green carpet, that soon will turn blue and the sun came out. What bliss!

Anthony Honeyball has this horse for sale, because he is not going to be a great race horse. His name is Mythical Light. He has got a nice temperament and is very level headed, even though he is still a youngster. If you'd like to know more about him, contact Sue Honeyball on 01823 451266.

Between Ernie's ears part 2. We enjoyed a short canter on Broomfield Hill, but he was in for a suprice at the end :) Misty is just so funny!

There were still some leaves on the trees, but after tomorrow's storm 'Bert' they will be gone. So we could still enjoy some gorgeous autumn colours on Cothelstone today. We met Cathy/Orio and Katrina/Templar who were going the other way round. Ernie wanted to go with them of course, because they were on the way home :)
