Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day is observed annually on August 28th. It's a heartfelt day dedicated to honouring and remembering beloved pets who have passed away ❤️
For the pet owners among us, it offers a special moment to reflect on the unconditional love, joy and companionship our furry friends brought into our lives.
While the day may stir feelings of sadness, its true purpose is to celebrate the lives of these cherished animals: reminiscing the happy memories, silly habits and unique bonds that made them a part of the family.

From loyal companions, to working animals and members of the family, it’s a day to appreciate their unconditional love and to raise awareness about adoption and the importance of giving every dog a loving home.

Adder bite awareness - protecting dogs and wildlife.

As the warmer months arrive, we are more likely to spot Britain’s only venomous snake - the adder. While bites in dogs are thankfully rare, cases tend to peak between June and August. 🐍

Adders are a protected species and these beautiful creatures are an important part of our ecosystem. They are not aggressive and only bite in self defence - including when stepped on or surprised by a curious dog!

By staying alert and respecting their space, we can help protect both our dogs and our native wildlife. Adders are most commonly found in drier, open habitats like:

🌳 Woodland edges
🌱 Grassy heaths and moorland
🏖 Sandy coastal areas and rocky paths
Keeping dogs under close control or on a lead, and sticking to clear paths, can help to avoid encounters.

How hot is too hot for a dog walk? 🐕 🐾

Each dog is different, for example Brachycephalic (flat faced), elderly or young, excitable dogs are more at risk of heat stroke, but the below shows a general rule of thumb in terms of care needed when walking your dog in hot weather.

Remember, your dog missing a walk or an event is not the end of the world, if it could save their life.
