Paws2Freedom

Paws2Freedom Paws2Freedom is a UK based volunteer run dog rescue/rehoming dog charity with strict no-kill policy ♥ Please join us in that mission, and help us to help them.

Paws2Freedom is a Dog Rescue Initiative set up by a small group of dedicated dog lovers who work to change the lives of some of the most unwanted and neglected souls in this world. We are a registered Small Charity and our trustees are: Susan Sheldon, Mark Bridgeman and Jean Abbs. We rely on kind donations and our own limited private funds to help dogs in need. Paws2Freedom's volunteers work along

side animal rescue organisations, private rescuers and animal welfare campaigners. It is our belief that as a global team we can achieve so much more. We offer advice for adopters who would like to rescue a dog from abroad. There is no charge for this; our payment is the happiness of knowing that another life has been saved. All the dogs under our rescue's wings are only rehomed after a home and ID check. We also offer rescue back up for life, to ensure that adopters can always turn to us for help - no matter what - and that none of our dogs will end up in rescue kennels or be advertised/sold through Gumtree or other media. At present our rescue has only one kennel with an outside run which we use for behaviour rehabilitation cases, but we recently have connected with a wonderful dog boarding facility close by, run by an amazing dog trainer, who is supporting our work. We also offer home foster within our small group of wonderful foster families. Here each dog will undergo a temperament and health assessment before he/she moves on to to their very own forever home. A great number of our rescued dogs have endured hunger, severe neglect and often unspeakable cruelty. By supporting and helping dogs from situations where all they knew was pain and suffering, we get to be part of seeing them become the beautiful and happy dogs they were always meant to be. Some of our work is focused on helping dogs from the Bark Ark Shelter in Bosnia, we also occasionally work with one selected rescuer in Romania which has become known as 'the land of death for dogs'. Far too many dogs in overseas countries suffer starvation, neglect and unspeakable abuse. We also work to help dogs here in the UK find homes and we offer support and advice. It is our mission to grow so that we can help more and more dogs to a happy and safe life. We can't change the world, but we can change the whole world for the dogs we are able to save. Every single life counts more than words could say.

Wishing all our wonderful Paws2Freedomers a very happy Christmas 🎄🎅🐾

For some, the festive season is full of joy and for others it can be a little more emotional. It’s been a tough year, but dogs always know how to lift our spirits! ... usually with a wagging tail or a tongue-out grin.
Cherry here, one of our more challenging rescues who landed the most amazing home, clearly has life figured out and is celebrating Christmas her way 😜🐾

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, for all your support. Without our cherished supporters and followers, Paws2Freedom simply wouldn’t exist. ❤️ 🙏x

❄️ Hi, I’m Helga ❄️

Still waiting – Foster or Forever home needed (Cornwall / Devon only)

I’m still here and the cold Bosnian winter is already on our doorstep.

I’m looking for a foster home to prepare me for adoption, but if you feel able to offer me a forever home instead, please chat with the lovely Paws2Freedom team so they can make sure we’re the right match.

I’m a big, fluffy girl in a Bosnian shelter, dreaming of warmth, kindness and maybe my very first sofa (I promise to share… mostly). I don’t think I’ve ever had a real home before, so I’m looking for a calm, loving foster home who can show me how this whole “being a family dog” thing works.

Having another friendly, confident dog in the home would really help me, as I learn a lot by watching. That said, it isn’t essential if you truly understand dogs like me and are able to guide me calmly and consistently. What matters most to me is love and commitment, and people who won’t rush me or give up when I’m learning.

The next transport is likely in February, and I’d really love not to face the cold alone. I’m looking for a foster home in Cornwall or Devon only.

If you think you could offer me warmth, guidance and maybe forgive the odd stolen slipper… please have a chat with Paws2Freedom 💕

NORA & ROSIE ARRIVAL DAY ♥️

Hello lovely Paws2Freedom family,

We’re here!!! We’ve arrived safe and sound and we are SO happy. We were very good girls on our big journey back to Cornwall — calm, quiet and feeling very brave. When we reached our foster home, we couldn’t wait to have a little explore, sniff everything, wag our tails and say our first hellos. It already feels warm, safe and full of love.

I’m Nora, the black and white younger one, and I’m a bit puppy-nutty (okay… very puppy-nutty!). I love to play, bounce about and make everyone smile. I’m roughly Whippet-sized with long legs and full of fun.
And I’m Rosie... I’m a little calmer, a little less seeking limelight, but just as playful. I’m Terrier-sized and I love cuddles just as much as play. Between us, we’re total cuddle monsters!

We want to say the biggest, happiest thank you to Bojan & the Bark Ark team, Dusica and the wonderful vets for saving us and taking such amazing care of us, Saving The Animals for getting us ready and bringing us safely here, as well as to every kind human who followed our journey, donated, shared and believed in us. And our amazing foster parents who will show us love until we're ready to move on. We felt and still feel all that love every step of the way.

Over the next few days, you’ll see more of us as we settle in, play, rest and show off our personalities... and then comes the most exciting part of all: finding our forever homes! Our profiles will be updated very soon as we settle into UK homelife. This is the beginning of the happy lives we’ve always dreamed of.

With wagging tails, happy hearts and lots of love,
Nora & Rosie 🐾❤️🎉
(and the Paws2Freedom Team) x

Hi Folks,
There's a post in the FB pipeline which may or may not appear, but for now seems to be held up by what we can only assume to be a FB gremlin. We will post again tomorrow if nothing shows by then. This is just to let you know that both girls have had a good journey to Cornwall. Both are real sweethearts! More tomorrow ###

Happy Sunday!
We're on our way to collect Rosie and Nora from Bristol meeting point. So excited 😍🐾🎉 x

🇳🇱 BREAKING: Netherlands Votes to Ban Consumer Fireworks Nationwide

The Netherlands has officially voted yes to a nationwide ban on consumer fireworks — a historic move that will come into force after New Year’s Eve 2025.

From 1 January 2026, the sale and use of almost all consumer fireworks (F2–F4 categories) will be illegal. Only the smallest “F1” items like sparklers will remain permitted. Professional displays will still be allowed under strict regulation.

The decision follows years of pressure from animal-welfare groups, emergency services and environmental organisations. Each New Year’s Eve, Dutch hospitals treat hundreds of injuries, and wildlife groups repeatedly report terrified pets and wild animals fleeing in panic.

Many Dutch cities had already imposed local bans — but now the entire country will follow suit.

Supporters say the ban will save lives, protect animals, reduce pollution and finally bring an end to chaotic New Year’s fireworks injuries. Critics argue it infringes on tradition, but public opinion has been shifting rapidly after years of serious accidents.

This New Year’s Eve will be the last where consumer fireworks are still widely allowed in the Netherlands

Our team have recently introduced a new line of charity work which will make a big difference to many. We are offering some of our dogs for therapy dog work in local care homes and other organizations. This work starts in October 2018 and we are excited and proud to be able to help people through the joy of having the company of a dog for a little while. We offer advice for adopters who would like to rescue a dog from abroad. There is no charge for this; our payment is the happiness of knowing that another life has been saved.
