🧳 HEART VETS ON TOUR - BVNA 2025 🧳

Cardiology Nurses Lauren, Charley, Julia and Nicki will be at the extra special Diamond 60th BVNA Congress on 10-12th October at the Telford International Centre.

This year, this amazing three day event is focussed on Progression of the veterinary nursing profession. HeartVets are proud to have a stand (P5) to showcase the incredible work that our nurses do in referral cardiology.

❤️ Heart Vets Hero - DOLLY ❤️

Dolly melted everyone's hearts when she saw Dave and Lauren this week for arrhythmia investigation. She was very relaxed enjoying a cuddle during her ECG and was the perfect model for our Holter vest!

Back by popular demand: Our scanning days are returning to Cardiff! New House Hotel Cardiff

Introduction to echo: Get to grips with the most important views, learn how to measure correctly and learn the physiology of the main diseases.

Next steps in echo: If your right-sided views are solid, let us take you through the next stages of Doppler assessment and valve interrogation.

🧳 HEART VETS ON TOUR 🧳

What a brilliant weekend!

Our Hearts and Minds CPD event at the stunning combined expert learning with a bit of luxury. Delegates enjoyed a full day of thoracic imaging lectures, followed by some well-earned spa time and a relaxed social dinner—before diving into small-group practicals the next day.

A huge thank you to our guest speaker, Imaging Specialist Esther Barratt, for sharing her insight (and those incredible images!).

We’re already planning more exciting cardiology CPD—keep an eye on our website for future dates!

We had a brilliant day at the Cornwall Veterinary Association annual CPD event on Saturday - it was great to catch up with old friends and hear how our referral cardiology and telemedicine service is helping patients in different ways throughout the region.

Thank you to my wonderful Heartvets colleagues Tiago Bispo and Helen Brewster for helping out and doing a great job of lecturing! And it still makes me smile to have my trusty Holter monitoring models in the back of the car ready for the next adventure 🤣

💉 ANAESTHETISING CARDIAC PATIENTS 💉

Cardiac patients requiring sedation or anaesthesia can present a tricky conundrum:

Heard the term 'Holter' and wondered what it's all about?
Let us fill you in!

They are named after Norman Holter - a professor and senior physicist who first invented the technology in America in the 1940s.

Used today in human and veterinary medicine to record the waveform of heart beats throughout daily life, to look for any abnormalities that contribute to cardiac disease and its clinical signs.
