Every now and again a client comes along that really gets it, the training the reasons why we teach what and how we teach, and they get it.

From coming to see us before she got her pup and the training she has done since, has meant they are developing an awesome bond, ready for the shooting field.

This is something everyone should see.

When you get your 8/10 week old puppies, please keep this image in mind. Their bones do not even touch yet. They plod around so cutely with big floppy paws and wobbly movement because their joints are entirely made up of muscle, tendons, ligaments with skin covering. Nothing is fitting tightly together or has a true socket yet.

When you run them excessively or don't restrict their exercise to stop them from overdoing it during this period you don't give them a chance to grow properly. Every big jump or excited bouncing run causes impacts between the bones. In reasonable amounts this is not problematic and is the normal wear and tear that every animal will engage in.

But when you're letting puppy jump up and down off the lounge or bed, take them for long walks/hikes, you are damaging that forming joint. When you let the puppy scramble on tile with no traction you are damaging the joint.

You only get the chance to grow them once. A well built body is something that comes from excellent breeding and a great upbringing-BOTH, not just one.

Once grown you will have the rest of their life to spend playing and engaging in higher impact exercise. So keep it calm while they're still little baby puppies and give the gift that can only be given once.

I am banging on a lot lately, about the s**t standard of some breeders, and the lack of any service once you have parted with your hard-earned cash. So now I will do the complete opposite.

Suzanne recently arranged for a pup for me from a contact of hers that had used a stud dog I have admired, owned by a Friend of ours, Katie at FosterWold Gundogs whom we have known for a few years now. And already have two pups (Chilli and Alf sired by her Stud Dogs)

This Puppy, Denzil, is coming from Georgie at Endeavour Canine I personally have never met Georgie, I have certainly never met Denzil, until Georgie sent me the video yesterday.

Georgie, is one of the only breeders that has made me think about what I actually wanted in a pup, then took that information and tested the male pups of her litter, to find out which one would be suitable, I have not been able (or wanted to), choose it because of its looks, uniqueness, this pup has been chosen by the breeder for me, Georgie has been with them through the whole of the last few months, and has been watching those pups since they were born, She is most knowledegable expert on those pups in the world, not me, not Suzanne or the woman down the road trying to flog a few 'sprockers', Georgie, and I have trusted her professional experience and judgement (No pressure Georgie ;-) x)

This is a proper breeder ladies and gentlemen, one that first and foremost has the best interests of the pups forefront in her mind.

Pups that have no doubt gone to people on a waiting list. Not ones that have been speculatively bred, and stuck on any of the animal selling websites there now are.

I'm off to pick Denzil up on Sunday, and meet Georgie over in Wales. Not down the road because it was cheap, was a particular shade of black and I could have it this afternoon, but because I want the right pup for the right job, at a price that reflects the hardwork the breeder has ACTUALLY put in for the last few months.

If you are able to walk out and buy a pup this afternoon, I would strongly suggest...........you don't, life has become so fast paced that "Act in Haste Repent At leisure" becomes very apt when it comes to getting a pup/dog from the wrong source.

If Carslberg did breeders, then both Georgie and Katie would be the standard everyone else should aspire to.
