Hey Guys. Sorry for the silence for so long, I thought I would pop on and provide a little update.

I will no longer be breeding, I've had a lot of changes in my personal life recently and unfortunately, breeding just is not something I will be able to continue with for the foreseeable future.

I'd like to thank everyone in the NFRS community who has provided me love and support over my time breeding, and my amazing pet homes who made this experience so worthwhile.

I'll still be available to answer questions and take back any rats who need to come back to me

I merged my litters at the weekend, Meg is wholly unimpressed with the extra kittens around her.

** WAITING LIST CLOSED **

Morning Everyone! This was something we were hoping to avoid but unfortunately, our waiting list will need to close.

We currently have 33 homes waiting for does and 36 homes waiting for bucks so we have made the decision to no longer accept new applications.

People who have applied before today and haven't get received a response will still be processed so don't worry if you are still waiting for a response.

Once we've managed to get some successful litters and clear off the list a bit we will re-assess whether to re-open or not.
There are excellent breeders up and down the country and rats travel extremely well so I'll drop a link to the NFRS Breeders list below

I've been a bit AWOL whilst on my breeding break and I didn't plan on my first post back being so heartbreaking.

I get asked if I breed hairless , and the answer is always no.

Today I picked up a rescue litter, dad was hairless and 4 of his kittens were also hairless. Between them all they never had a good set of eyes, one eye completely missing having died back and the other badly ulcerated caused by entropy. All these kittens have known since their eyes opened is pain

Look at this kitten and tell me the risk of hereditary conditions is worth having a 'cute' naked rat?

My two current litters all have homes lined up and I'm having some time to just enjoy my rats for a while 💜 enjoy some buck baby spam!

My next litters are planned for around April and will be my first matings for my Russian Topaz all going well. I'm very excited but grateful for the down time after the stress my lot have put me through recently.

2021 didn't start out very kind to me , I found my hunky lad Buzz dead on the 1st of Jan. He fathered several litters , not just for me but for other breeders and took his role as big man Buzz in his stride. I'll be forever grateful to Harkyle Rats for giving him to me ❤ he was much loved and will be very much missed. Sleep tight Buzz 💔💜

This absolute gem of a rat should have been expecting a litter today but instead 3 days before her due date I ended up cradling and syringing meds and fluids into her throughout the night waiting for my rat savvy vet to come on shift so she could go in for an emergency spay.

I found Luna on day 20 , at the bottom of her cage cold and lifeless , shaking and looking horrifically unwell.

Luckily we got her sorted in time she had an emergency spay and is now on strong antibiotics and painkillers and she's slowly making a recovery and being spoiled in the process.

It shows just how quickly things can go wrong , earlier that day I'd been taking pictures of her baby belly to share with friends and post after she'd given birth.

My does are always my priority when they are pregnant and I'll take the loss of a litter to be able to keep my gorgeous girl with me 💜

I thought I was going to lose my Luna Loons yesterday. I found her cold , unresponsive and shaking at the bottom of her cage at stupid o'clock this morning. I syringed her fluids and kept her warm over the night till I could get her to the vets where she had an emergency spay. We obviously lost the entire litter but she is more important. We believe she was in pre eclampsia , she's not out of the woods yet but I'm remaining hopeful she continues to improve.

Some pics of her having her meds and a treat this morning ❤
