Positive Reinforcement is at the forefront of every dog trainers mind.
Only dog trainers understand the feeling when you leave a clients he having more or less solved the problem through positive reinforcement. The owners happy, the dogs happy and the rest of the day is just pure amazing, dopamine flooding , whatever you call it good dog trainers love this feeling.
BUT :
We acknowledge that there is a very, very small percentage of extreme cases where an unconditioned aversive may be appropriate to prevent the dog being rehomed (very difficult), or to save life and limb (prevent injury or death).
These situations require an exceptionally high level of knowledge, timing, and responsibility from both the trainer and the owner. This is not the case for the vast majority of dogs, these scenarios are rare.
