Now smelly and feeling lovely … don’t think the dogs are best pleased by the experience 😂

On Sunday we had a young dog classes ⭐️

The first group of slightly older puppies did a mixture of heelwork round each other, recalls through the line and finished with testing the stop whistle to see how well they understood it… all the dogs were fab 👏👏
The older dogs all did heelwork round each other and recalls through the line, then we worked on memory retrieves and recapped the push backs… all the dogs were fab 👏👏
Finally the youngest dogs went over all the basics we learnt the week before with a mixture of heelwork, sit/stays and puppy recalls.
Then we used each other as distractions and practiced heelwork towards other dogs and handlers and sitting in front of them.
Finally we finished with free recalls… all the dogs were fab 👏👏

On Saturday we had a little training excursion and went to a new ground over Thame way… let’s just say the handlers and dogs had a blast!

We started out in the field with some long marks and memories and then introduced the box jump and the lake with a mixture of marks and memories as distractions.
We then built up a long mark by which the dogs ran from the field over the box jump and into the lake… super well done all 👏❤️

We finished with some cake to celebrate Caroline’s birthday 🎉🎉🎈🎈

Sunday training for the young dog groups 👏

The first group worked on obedience around each other, weaving up and down the line of dogs and handlers, then we progressed the stop whistle with some fun games to see how well they were understanding the stop whistle and then we finished by introducing some formal retrieving … well done all 👏

The older dogs also worked on obedience around each other, had a reminder of the stop whistle and finished with introducing the ‘push back’ command… well done all 👏

Finally we had a new puppy group start and all the dogs and handlers were fab!
We looked at heelwork, sit/stays and recalls and spoke about the most important job of learning doing nothing is doing something and homework was to go to the pub 😂🥂

Wet wet wet and little humid on Saturday!!!

Well done to all the Saturday groups for your dedication!
We worked on long marks, blinds and memories, then we had a drive at a tricky angle with bunkers of the previous retrieves and finished with long blinds in an area we used a couple weeks ago with short marks in front to see how well the dogs understood going through an old area… super well done all 👏

The younger puppies worked on obedience around each other and finished with checking their lefts and rights, and testing them with both options to see if they were listening or going where they thought best… all the dogs did really well 👏

Another fab training session at Rickneys training ground in Hertford on Thursday evening … well done all 👏

This time we started with some delayed long memories into trees over a small ditch followed by some mark distractions out the front and down the line into the long grass.
Then we moved to the lake where we all had a mark on the island and then finished in pairs by having a delayed mark on the island and turning to pick a long memory across the undulations through the long grass 👏👏

Great achievement everyone ❤️

Super well done to the Sunday puppy classes 👏

The younger puppies worked on a mixture of obedience around each other along with meet and greets and learning patience when people or dogs walk past. Checking the second stage of the stop whistle and finishing with some fun puppy retrieves 👏

The older puppies also doing obedience around each other, some steadiness and impulse control with their retrieve items and finishing with some formal retrieving 👏

The Saturday groups in actions 🙌
Long and short retrieves were the order of the day!

We started simple with marks and then blinds in the same area along with a drive elsewhere and mark distractions.
The blinds were then replaced again and then a short mark distraction was thrown in front of the area so handlers and dogs had to pick the short retrieve first and then push through the old fall to pick the longer blind… all the dogs did really well 👏👏

We beat the heat on Sunday with the morning puppy groups ☀️
The younger puppies did really well, we started with obedience around each other then did recalls though the channel of dogs and finished with moving on the stop whistle to the next stage which they all got the hang of really well 👏
The older puppies also did really well, we worked on introducing some steadiness and progressing our retrieving by watching a thrown dummy turning around and sending back and also recalling away from a thrown dummy and then sending back 👏
