I've been coaching for 20+ years and I love what I do. I am a freelance instructor, not attached to any particular yard, so I come to you. I work Monday-Friday, generally leaving the weekends free for competing, clinics or other events. From time to time I can cater for weekend lessons but this is on an exceptional basis. During the week I'm available all day, even up to 9pm or sometimes beyond, s

o I'll do my very best to fit you in and suit your schedule. I have freelance instructor insurance provided by KBIS and I am a UKCC Level 2 accredited coach. I am police checked and undertake refresher courses for the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults. I am first aid trained and attend periodic refresher courses, so you can be confident that I am suitably qualified to provide coaching to you or your child. More at https://hgequestrian.com/about

Coaching
I cater for all ages and abilities, and travel island-wide to provide lessons. Whilst most clients prefer a 1-1 session, I will happily work with pairs and offer joint lessons. Lessons normally last for 45 minutes (60 minute for joint), allowing you time to warm-up, cool-down and for us to have a little debrief. We'll look at what to work on for next time and how to work through any particular issues. What to expect on your first lesson
If this is your first lesson with me, there will be a few things I'll want to know before we get started and a few things I'll be looking at initially before we get into session:

1. Horse type, age, length of time owned
2. Goals and targets
5. Amount of work per week
6. Pre-exisiting injuries or return from a period off

a few spaces avaliable for my December showjumping clinics at Ballavartyn Equestrian Centre 🐎 for those who have been asking I generally run these every Wednesday 10am-9pm depending on arena availability, can be poles, exercises or course practice 💪

Hard to believe a year has gone since we lost my special Wonderhorse. He's never far from my thoughts. I miss him every day but so thankful for the amazing memories. 💔🐴💭

Arena UK, over and out.
What an amazing show despite four seasons of weather in one week 🤣

Zip was his usual chilled self 😎, travelled like a pro, jumping everything I asked, and stepping up a class 🙌, and qualifying for the final.

The courses were tough being a Major Championship, and the poles are light 😅. He's such a genuine horse, keeps trying, never phased by anything I ask, but keeping the poles up is proving difficult 🙈.

Jumping at this level is physically demanding, and I think he's maybe feeling it in his muscles, or maybe his eye affects him more than we realize 🤷‍♀️. We just don't know. If only they could talk!

For now, it's home for rest, a massage, and his hooves up in the field 👌. So much love for my special boy. 😘

Look forward to seeing you all soon. I'm sorting my diary now, so get in touch the usual ways if you would like a lesson next week. Clinic dates on the horizon too 💪.

Day 1 at ARENA UK SHOW Centre and can confirm it was blowing an absolute hoolie. Jumps were blowing down left, right, and centre in my arena, so I was a bit unsure about jumping Zip, but we cracked on and he took it all in his stride, bless him. We even had a jump blow down in our round and had to wait for it to be rebuilt, but he jumped super and has even qualified for Sunday's Grand Prix.🙌

On our way for a week of showjumping with Zip🚢 at ARENA UK SHOW Centre for the ALX Major Showjumping Championships 🙌 wasn't looking likely with the weather but for once luck was on our side!

What a lovely day at the Royal Manx Agricultural Show 😊 Zippy was foot perfect and gave me a lovely ride 😘 bonus to win both his classes 🥇🥇🎉 what an absolute pleasure he is 🥰

What a lovely weekend at the Southern District Agricultural Show

Incredibly proud of Zippy; he was foot-perfect all weekend and gave me a lovely ride from showing to show jumping to the grand parade. He just took it all in his stride and tried his heart out. He's such a special horse.

Not many pics as I didn't have my top cameraman with me this time.

Thankyou to all the committee and volunteers who work tirelessly to keep these shows going xx
