Oh Charlie 🥹 I did not expect you to leave us yesterday, but I know you were very ready aswell. You had a wonderful 15 years and I’m so blessed that you spent the last 6 years of that with us.

It took Charlie some time to settle into our groups properly when he first started. Not every dog takes to it as easily or quickly as others, but after some time and understanding from both myself and him, he started to thrive and realise the other doggies were friends and this helped him with his confidence so much, outside of our walks aswell.

I loved going in to collect Charlie, his hearing wasn’t great in later life so if he was asleep I’d have to go and give him a little stroke to wake him up and I’d often find him in the funniest positions! If he was awake, he’d come trotting out ready for his little adventure.

Charlie was part of the old boys club, with Toby and Gnasher who I’m sure have welcomed him across the rainbow bridge now 🥹 Those three were always so sweet with sticking together, right behind me and every so often would get the zoomies. There was nothing better than seeing an old boy have a puppy moment again 🥰

Rest easy Charlie boy, you’ll be so missed by us all. I hope you have endless grass up there for all your rolling you loved doing so much 🖤 🌈 🕊️

Hotter and hotter 🥵🥵🥵

Today the highest temperatures in the UK are expected to be around 27ºC.

HEATSTROKE - PREVENTION IS ALWAYS THE BEST OPTION.

✅ Walks before 8am or after 8pm (or even not at all!)
✅ Plenty of space and shade
✅ Constant access to fresh cold water
✅ Cool mats and fans
✅ Keep the curtains closed during the day

However, if heatstroke occurs, don’t delay! We are here to help..

Is it true that if we use cold water on heat stroke pets they will go into shock?

NO NO NO

One of the most common things we still hear is that you can only use tepid water on a pet with heat stroke, incase they get complications like hypothermic overshoot or peripheral vasoconstriction.

But guess what?

In a recent study, over 26% of dogs presented with heat stroke died! Old, heavy coated and flat faced breeds make up nearly half of heat stroke cases seen.

What you should do immediately:

💧Get someone to call your veterinary practice and tell them you're coming down with a heat stroke patient

💧Pour, hose or if possible immerse the pet in very cold water (this should obviously be done under constant supervision, ensuring the head is fully above water.
Do not attempt if the animal is too large or you are unable to do so without hurting yourself).

💧If using a hose pipe, make sure it has run through until cold, as they can often contain water that is extremely hot in the tubing.

💧Do not drape in towels and leave them in situ. Keep the cold water flowing.

💧Move to a cool, shaded area.

💧Prepare to transport to your vets in a cold, ideally air conditioned car.

Oh Toby 🥺
I’m so sad to say that sweet Tobster went to the rainbow bridge last week.
He’d been retired from my group walks for about a year now, but for so many years prior he’d been a huge part of my walks.
He was always such a good boy and was just happy to plod along sniffing everything along the way, but then he’d surprise you by having the zoomies and you just couldn’t help but smile 😊
I’d get the loveliest welcomes from him on pick up, but it was always a quick hello before racing out to the van!
We’ll miss you Toby 🌈

Never could I imagine that just over two months since Otto passed would his “little brother” Albie be crossing the rainbow bridge so suddenly aswell 💔
It’s so hard to comprehend sometimes, especially when they had so much life left to live, but sadly Albie became very poorly, very quickly.
I remember being so excited when Albie’s family bought him home, getting to meet him as a little puppy and having that privilege of getting to look after him. His first big boy walk with the groups was 8 years ago (last photo) and he settled himself right in from the get go, making lots of friends over the years and being the cuddliest boy whenever he was boarding with me.
I gave Albie the nickname of Tigger because every single time I went to pick him up he would practically headbutt me jumping up to say hello! 😂 I’m going to miss you so much buddy, but I hope you’ve been reunited with your best friend Otto now 🧡

Yesterday my sweet Archie boy took his final trip to the rainbow bridge and even though I knew this day was coming, it’s still so incredibly sad and I can’t quite believe he’s gone 😢 💔
I’ve had the absolute pleasure of looking after Archie and his “brother” Harry for nearly ten years now, starting out with alot of pet sitting where I’d often wake up to Archie sleeping around my head, to then doing regular walks before boarding with me in their later years. We even had a little holiday together in Wales last year.
Archie was such a funny character, he would often whine at me asking to go back home during walks and when he knew we were heading back, he’d start sprinting to get there first! He just loved curling up on the sofa and if you ever couldn’t find him, I’d guarantee he’d be under the bed fast asleep.
I still remember the day I first met him and Harry, they both took their turns curling up on my lap and at the end of the consultation, their mum gave me a big hug and said she was so relieved to find someone to look after them 🥰 I hope you’ve been reunited with her up there Archie. You will be so missed, sweet dreams darling boy 🕊️✨

You always think you’ve got more adventures with all the doggies, but the inevitable always creeps up on you and on Christmas Day, sweet Otto took his last adventure to the rainbow bridge. He was living his best life right up until the end so as much as his passing was a huge shock, there’s comfort in knowing he was a happy boy until the end. Otto joined the pack within my very first year and he was always such a pleasure to walk and look after. I’m always honoured by the number of years I get to spend with these dogs and even though there’s heartbreak when they leave us, that doesn’t take away all the amazing memories and fun times over the years. You will be so missed Otto. I’ll be sure to give your siblings Albie and Lucky extra cuddles next time I see them 🌈🧡✨

I was just letting Ivy smell the flowers I picked on our walk, but she chose violence and de-headed one of them 😂🤦🏽‍♀️🌼
