Puppy training… 1-2-1 sessions or puppy classes?

My opinion… do both! ✔️✔️

You want to do everything you can to support the early stages of your puppy’s life and behaviour to help and make it all easier in the long run.🐾

Now this isn’t me saying all puppy classes are bad, (some are, but there are some great ones).

An important factor to consider is that as well as training, how we manage situations we find our puppies (and dogs) in, is a huge part of preventing behavioural issues so you don’t need to ‘cure’ them.
My 1-2-1 puppy packages offer a personalised and holistic approach where we delve into exactly what you want in training and behaviourally from your dog as they grow into adolescence. We address ‘issues’ you experience as they happen, rather than leaving them to develop and we ensure that we prioritise the areas that will affect your lifestyle, goals and your dogs happiness and wellbeing the most. ✨

For first time puppy owners, we ensure to cover the vitals of dog body language and learning theory to help set you up for as much success as possible with your new companion.

And whilst 1-2-1 sessions can be slightly more expensive than group puppy classes, you get so much more that will save you🫰🏻in the long run.

A lovely testimonial from Tobin’s people🫶🏼

Tobin is a rescue from Hungary. His owners came to me as they were experiencing a mixed bag of behavioural issues, some existing and exaggerated, and some new following the stresses of moving house.

We’ve been working on:
• Dog reactivity
• Confidence outside of the house
• Lead walking
• Separation anxiety
• Some early signs of resource guarding

Tobin has made huge progress during our work together, and his owners have been dedicated and consistent (which makes my job a hell of a lot easier!)🙌🏼

Meet Polar🐾

Polar’s a street dog from Morocco, currently living in shelter with the wonderful

On my recent trip, I met some incredible dogs and saw the inspiring work being done by the rescue to help as many animals in need as possible.

Of course, with the majority of these dogs being street dogs, with extremely complex and challenging past experiences, not all of them are suitable for a home environment.

However, as a behaviour specialist and expert in rescue, spending 1-1 time with some of these dogs, I met many who would make the most wonderful human companions, with huge potential to thrive in a home environment and desperately needing to escape the street and shelter life.

One of these dogs was Polar. 🐕
I fell in love with Polar, from seeing him shut-down, in the back corner of the shelter, to taking him on hikes, where I saw him show a confident, gentle, and playfully goofy side as he spent time in human company, away from the stress of the shelter.

Whilst I’m aware that sadly, we cannot save every dog, I want to help as many dogs as possible and Polar is a dog who I believe with some help, we can.

Polar has already had his vaccinations and neuter for his golden ticket paid for by a generous supporter of MAA, with all of the necessary requirements ready to travel to a place where he can find a home.
Of course, with UK rescues being at full capacity; Polar cannot go into a UK rescue.

Instead, I want to give Polar the opportunity of finding his forever home, by taking him on foster, settling him into home life, training him and preparing him with everything he needs.

Alongside Morocco Animal Aid, we’ll be teaming up with the incredible UK charity, , in finding Polar the perfect home.

The dog who makes me happiest🐾

Fabulous Fred ✨ a handsome Romanian rescue who we saw BIG changes in from the first session.

Fred’s owners came to me looking for help with his stranger reactivity in the home, which was developing into some challenging behaviours. Fred’s owners took everything in and committed from the get go, which I love! As a result of patience, improved communication and dedication to the plan I gave them, they saw huge changes in Fred’s behaviour within the first week.✨

Dog reactivity is a journey that takes time, commitment and effort. When providing my client’s with a plan, I’m there throughout their journey to hold them accountable, whilst ensuring to be a reliable support system, and most importantly, a judgement free space.
