We often wonder if people truly realise where our funds go—and just how much is spent to keep our dogs healthy and safe. So, here’s a peek into our vet costs so far this month.
🐾 On the bright side, we’re delighted to have reconnected with the fantastic team at The Vets At Dronfield. Their new practice is up and running, and it’s reassuring to be back with vets we have faith in — having that confidence makes a world of difference.
💸 On the flip side, we’ve needed their expertise more than ever. So far, our vet bill this month stands at £4,158—and that’s only for the dogs in our kennels. It doesn’t include the ones currently in foster homes. And yes, more visits are still to come.
The recent intake of strays has pushed costs even higher, with essential treatments, vaccinations, and check-ups required across the board.
Here’s a snapshot of what some of our furry friends have needed:
- Poppy: Treatment for ear issues
- Toby: Dermatological care for his paw
- Charlie: X-rays for a possible shoulder injury and ongoing ear problems
- Tucker: Neutering, dew claw removal, and leg x-rays—his case is still a mystery and now being referred to a specialist
- Marvel: Major dental work resulting in multiple tooth extractions
- Leo: Sedated at kennels for a stress-free health check and groom—possibly the most expensive pamper session ever, but absolutely worth it for his comfort
Almost all of the dogs needed vaccination boosters or new vaccinations, and our new arrivals required microchipping.
