❄️ Winter Paw Care ❄️
Winter can be surprisingly tough on your dog’s paws. Cold pavements, road salt, grit and constant wet walks can quickly lead to dryness, soreness and cracked pads if they are not looked after properly.
A few simple habits at home really help:
🐾 Rinse paws after walks
A quick rinse with warm water helps remove salt and grit that can irritate the skin.
🐾 Dry them well
Leaving paws damp, especially between the toes, can cause soreness. A gentle towel dry makes a big difference.
🐾 Use a paw balm
Applying a nourishing balm helps keep pads soft and protected during the colder months.
🐾 Keep the fur between pads tidy
Long fur traps moisture and dirt which can lead to irritation and slipping.
🐾 Keep an eye out for changes
Excessive licking, limping or hesitation on walks can be early signs of sore paws.
We see a lot of dry, tired paws at this time of year, which is why paw care is always part of what we do at Dog & Throne. Gentle cleansing, soothing products and a little extra attention can go a long way in keeping your dog comfortable through winter.
