Dear Members.

Regretfully, we have to advise you that the 2026 Welsh Terrier Club Open Show will NOT be held this Sunday, 22nd March.

A very low entry from competitors has resulted in the committee having to make this very disappointing decision.

It is anticipated that it will be held on the same day as the 2026 Championship Show, Sunday 27th September; this will be confirmed at a later date.

Unfortunately this also means that the 2hr grooming session will also not take place.

Introducing Dieny De Munter - Uiterwijk who is our judge for the upcoming Open Show.

“My name is Dieny De Munter - Uiterwijk and I have been involved with dogs all my life. I grew up with Wire Fox Terriers, as my father was a breeder, which started my lifelong love for terriers.

At a young age, I gained experience with Welsh Terriers at Saredon Kennels, where I trimmed and showed several dogs to championship titles, later on continuing showing Welsh Terrier, including Ch. Am. Ch. Sees Ready To Go Best of Breed at Crufts.

The Welsh Terrier is a breed very close to my heart, and I am very much looking forward to judging this wonderful breed.”

Please show your support for Dieny at our upcoming show on the 22nd March. The deadline for entries is 14th March.

TWO HOUR GROOMING TASTER SESSION

Before our Open Show on 22nd March 2026, at our usual Polesworth venue, we are holding a two hour grooming taster session.

This will be aimed predominantly at owners who are new to hand stripping their Welsh Terriers and have little or no experience, although all are welcome.

The event will run from 9.00 am to 11.00 am before the show. Spaces are limited so places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

As well as your dog, please bring any tools that you currently use and if at all possible a grooming table/arm.

The cost of the session is £15 with tea and coffee included.

If you would then like to show your dog afterwards in the Alokin (fun) class, the entry fee is £2.00. Please ask for an entry form when booking the grooming session.

The event is mainly aimed at Welsh Terrier Club members but please contact us if you are not a member.

A date for the diary!

On Sunday 22nd March 2026, the Club will be holding its Open Show at Polesworth Memorial Hall, Polesworth, Tamworth, Staffs, B78 1DT.

The show opens at 12.00 with judging starting at 1.00. Our judge is Dieny De Munter Uiterwijk (Van Foliny Home).

All welcome - members, non-members and spectators alike. For those of you who would like to have a go at showing, remember you can enter the Alokin Special Award classes and have a bit of fun.

Entries close on Saturday 14th March 2026.

REMINDER!!!
A date for the diary! Sunday 28th of September 2025 the club will be holding a double show. With 2 breed specialists judging.

The Open show will be held in the morning with judging starting at 11am. The judge is Isabella Bennett (Bolhaus).

The special awards classes will be judged straight after the open show by Isabella and they are open to all, who want to have a go at showing their Welsh Terrier.

The Championship show will start judging at 1 pm. The judge is Paul Spragg (Westpenn).

Entries for both shows close on Saturday 20th of September.
