CHARLIE LOOKING FOR A NEW LOVING HOME.
Nowadays we try not to take in too many rescue dogs, rather we try to rehome from their current abode .
Anyhow on Monday night around 23.30pm we took delivery of Charlie . He arrived from Romania , being a supporter of Elcees Rescue who are based in Nottingham, we try and help wherever we can and I promised Lesley that we'd take in this little lad to assist.
Poor old Charlie is around 16 months old and is about the height of a Springer Spaniel.
When he fills out and regains his coat he will look like a small Bearded Collie. For those of you who don't know, I have a fair amount of knowledge with this type of dog having shown and bred champion Beardies many years ago- I moved out of this pastime longer than I care to remember and don't regret it! Not that I want to crib anyone who is involved, it simply wasn't for either Lesley or me!
Anyway back to Charlie.
The poor little chap arrived on a pitch black night, and after a non stop journey from Eastern Europe the wee chap was understandably traumatised.
I had to carry him into our inner yard and set him down to hopefully encourage him to have a p*e! He didn't , though he found a little toad behind a planter 🤭
Anyway he was billeted in a cage in our kitchen, I perhaps against my better judgement , fed him- I couldn't not as he is pretty scrawny !
So I went to bed, rising about 6am and went downstairs expecting WW3 but far from it bless him! I had left windows and doors open as he stunk like a bloody polecat( worse actually) but his cage was clean.
After carrying him outside and encouraging his business he had more grub and went back to bed until we bathed him in an attempt to exorcise the polecat! ( 80% successfully)
Since then the little lad has improved by the hour.
He still likes his cage as his safe place and he remains remarkably clean , his cage is open most of the time and he comes and goes with an increasing degree of confidence. He has accepted bathing, grooming and lead training remarkably well and I have tremendous confidence that he will make someone a lovely companion pet.
Oh, he gets on well with our pack too( they hate him but he keeps trying🤭)
If anyone is interested in adopting Charlie, we can forward your details to Elcees Rescue, he is of course neutered, fully inoculated and has all relevant tests in place.
