✨ A little look behind the scenes at Pip’s Pet Services 🐾

My salon may be small, but every part of it has been chosen with your dog’s comfort, safety and wellbeing in mind 💛 From calm handling and quality equipment, to professional products I trust and a peaceful one-to-one environment.

Whether it’s fresh air through the doors or air conditioning keeping the salon comfortable in warmer weather, I always try to create a space where dogs can feel relaxed and secure 🐶✨

I truly believe grooming should never feel rushed, forceful or frightening. It should feel calm, kind and tailored to the individual dog in front of me 🛁✂️

Another week full of gorgeous dogs, waggy tails and a couple of very special birthday girls too 🥳🎂🐾

And wow… what a HOT week it’s been ☀️🍦 While we may love the sunshine, the heat can be really tough on our dogs, especially during grooming appointments.

Thankfully the salon stayed lovely and cool at around 16–18°C thanks to my trusty air conditioning 😎🐶 Keeping dogs comfortable and relaxed is always a priority here at Pip’s Pet Services 💛

This week I’ve had everything from full grooms to teeth cleans and nail trims — and as always, it’s been a pleasure spending time with all your lovely pups ✂️🛁🦷

Thank you for keeping me busy and trusting me with your dogs every week 🐾

Weekly Grooming Round-Up at Pips Pet Services 🐾

Here’s what I’ve been up to:

✔️ Full grooms
✔️ Bath & brush appointments
✔️ Nail trimming
✔️ Dry groom (a special appointment for a poorly Bobby🥰)
✔️ EmmiPet ultrasonic teeth cleaning

Regular grooming isn’t just about looking good — it helps prevent matting, reduces shedding, keeps nails at a healthy length and supports dental hygiene.

This week’s EmmiPet sessions are already helping to reduce plaque build-up and freshen breath 🦷✨

“Not every dog walks into the salon feeling safe… and that’s okay 💛🐶”

Rescue dogs can come with experiences we may never fully know or understand.
For some, grooming can feel unfamiliar, overwhelming, or even frightening at first.

That’s why patience matters so much.

Building trust takes time — gentle handling, kindness, and allowing dogs to move at their own pace can make all the difference 🐾

There’s no judgement if your rescue dog struggles with grooming.
You’re not failing them, and you’re definitely not alone.

Sometimes the biggest wins are simply helping a dog feel a little safer than they did before ✨

🐾 Flea season AND tick season are here… and they’re easier to pick up than you think!

As the weather gets warmer, we start seeing more fleas and ticks on our dogs — especially after walks through long grass, woodland, parks and even in our own gardens. 🌿

The tricky thing with fleas is that most of them aren’t actually on your dog… they’re hiding in carpets, bedding, sofas and cracks around the home waiting to hatch. That’s why treating the house as well as your pet is so important!

Ticks are just as important to watch for too. After walks, it’s always worth checking:
🐾 Around the ears
🐾 Under collars
🐾 Between toes
🐾 Around armpits & groin

A quick check and regular prevention can make a huge difference. ✨

As a groomer, I often spot fleas, flea dirt or ticks during appointments — and I’ll always let owners know kindly and discreetly so we can help keep dogs comfortable and healthy. 💛

“Kindness always comes first… even when it’s not the easiest option 💛🐶”

Grooming isn’t just about how a dog looks — it’s about how they feel.

Sometimes that means having honest conversations.
Not to judge, but to do what’s right for your dog.

If a coat is too matted, brushing it out can be painful.
If a dog is overwhelmed, pushing through can make things worse.

So I won’t do that.

I’ll always choose the kindest, safest option — even if that means clipping shorter than planned or taking things slower.

Because your dog’s comfort matters more than anything else 🐾✨

“Sometimes it takes a fresh pair of eyes… 👀🐶”

When you see your dog every day, it’s so easy to miss the small, gradual changes — because they happen so slowly.

That’s where I can help.

Seeing your dog every few weeks (depending on their coat etc) means I often notice little things that might not be obvious day to day — whether that’s a change in their skin, coat, ears or overall comfort.

It’s never about judgement — just care 💛
If I ever spot anything, I’ll always mention it kindly and quietly, because your dog’s wellbeing is what matters most.

We’re a team when it comes to looking after them 🐶✨

Here’s Hope having her full groom last Friday 🐶✨

Watch the full 2 minutes to see what happens during one of my grooming appointments from start to finish 👀✂️

🌟 First things first… Hope happily trots into the salon and hops straight onto the table 💛

📷 Before photos — so we can see the transformation!

💅 I’ll usually begin with nails, and if the dog is comfortable with it, I’ll gently file the edges smooth too.

🛁 Then it’s bath time!
Hope is shampooed and rinsed twice — the first wash removes dirt and coat build-up, and the second gets the skin and coat beautifully clean ready for drying and styling.

💨 Next comes drying!
First I use the blaster dryer to remove most of the water from the coat. Happy Hoodies help reduce noise around the ears and can help dogs feel more comfortable too 🐾

Then comes the full fluff dry and brush out — making sure the coat is knot-free, straight, and ready for styling.

📷 Freshly dried and super fluffy ☁️🐶

✂️ Finally, styling time!
Using clippers and scissors, I shape the groom to suit both the dog and their family’s lifestyle — keeping comfort, coat maintenance, and practicality in mind.
