😁QUALITY CONTROL😁

All the donations we receive to sell on our stall have to be checked and approved and yesterday Cooper was chief tester.

That toy was actually in a bag and with the help of probably Wilson who is usually at the bottom of any mischief along with Cooper managed to get the contents out to check it over. What would we do without their help?

Cooper and Wilson are best buddies and can both usually be found in the midst of any mayhem/chaos. Got to love a cat with character though. What are your little ones up to today? We’d love to see pictures.

🤔FOOD FOR THOUGHT MAYBE?🤔

I saw this post on another page and had to steal it.

When I set up Travis Cat Rescue back in 2016 I did so because I’m passionate about feline welfare.

I love cats, I love what I do and I’m extremely proud of what I’ve achieved with the help of loyal volunteers and supporters. Every single day I experience frustration, upset, worry and anger but this isn’t about me. Unfortunately it goes with the territory apparently.

I genuinely wish I could help every single cat but it’s impossible and this year seems to be worse than in previous years. Every single day I’m turning cats away that need help and it breaks my heart. Some are surrendered for silly reasons because the owners can’t be bothered or are just too stupid to work through any issues they may be experiencing. If I can’t help I always try and find a solution but sometimes it’s overwhelming.

I’m full here and all the rescue centres are the same. I’m getting through around 170 pouches of cat food a day at the moment. It’s a ridiculous situation that has got out of hand and most of it could be avoided if only people neutered their cats. It’s a basic requirement of cat welfare. Do some research on a cat’s needs BEFORE you decide to adopt. If you can’t meet the basic needs don’t get a cat. It really is as simple as that.

Admittedly I could have a quicker turnover of cats but I refuse to compromise when it comes to homing. I have strict rules and a duty of care when it comes to homing. No cat leaves here if it’s not going to the right home. That would result in the cat coming back or it being in an unsuitable situation once again. They deserve better.

Will this post get through to stupid people that think it unnecessary to neuter their cats? I hope so but I very much doubt it.

Sorry for the long rant but I needed to get it off my chest.

Today Angel would like to come on mainly to show off but at the same time say thank you to everyone that took part in Travis Tuesday yesterday. We raised a lovely £138 towards the care of the cats and kittens here at Travis Cat Rescue.

We are very grateful for all your donations because we’ve just taken delivery of a food delivery for the cats and we have vet costs coming up for vaccines, chips and neutering. I’ve made a mental note to update our Amazon Wish List!

Angel has been with us a few years now because she tends to keep away from visitors. She came into our care because she is unfortunately one of the many cats we have here that have been traumatised by young children.

Shes beautiful and very affectionate as you can see but too much hand action and not reading her body language to realise she’s had enough will result in a nip, bite or both (sorry, I have to be honest). So, no young children for Angel. She will need a quiet, calm home with no young children or other pets.

📅CALENDAR CAT FOR JULY - ALAN📆

The cat featured for July on our Travis calendar is Alan.

Alan arrived at Travis as a four week old kitten in May last year with his mum, brother and sister.

His mum was homed at the beginning of the year and Alan went to his new home with his brother Ralph last May.

His sister is still waiting for the right person to come along.

We’ve been so busy with events lately our raffle has been put on the back burner so there is still time to buy tickets if you haven’t already.
