What to Expect 💜🧡🩷
🟧 We will never rush you and will take time to explain the procedure and any concerns you may have.
🟧 A vet will come to your house at an agreed time.
🟧 If you need some assurance you are taking the right decision, the vet will start out by examining your pet. If you know euthanasia is the right decision, however, this is not necessary. Instead we will interact and bond with your pet to make them comfortable in our company.
🟧 There will be a brief form to go through, where you consent to the humane euthanasia and specify your choice for aftercare. When your pet has crossed the rainbow bridge you can choose to bury or arrange cremation for your pet yourself or Paws Over the Rainbow can help if you would like your pet individually cremated - we work closely with independent crematorium, Kings Hill Cremations
🟧 When everyone feels ready, the vet will administer a sedative injection under the skin that will make your pet fall into a deep sleep. It normally takes 5-10 minutes for the injection to take effect. When your pet is asleep the vet administers the final injection, which is an overdose of anaesthetic, which will make your pet pass away peacefully and pain free.
🟧 We are always happy to speak to you before the visit if you have any questions, would like more details on the process or if you have an anxious or reactive pet that might benefit from some calming medication before the visit.
🟧 In the days following your pet's euthanasia you might experience feelings of sadness, guilt, shock, and even depression. It is completely normal to feel these emotions and you can always give us a call and talk to us about it. There are also many online resources available to help with the grief of pet loss, such as Compassion Understood and Blue Cross UK.
