🐾 Meet Reggie and Lister! 🐾
These two lovely souls are still looking for their forever home since our last post. They’re currently being cared for by Deerness boarding kennels, cattery and rescue centre - could you be the one to change their lives?

Reggie and Lister are full of personality, love, and loyalty — and they’re ready to share that with the right family. Whether you're looking for a gentle companion or a playful buddy, these two deserve a chance to show how special they are. 💚

Hi Pup Pickers

A huge THANK YOU to the The 9 Anchors Seaton Carew for their collection of £38.74. Our small charity with a big HEART raises a glass to you and your very generous customers!!
When it comes to fundraising they are like a Dog with a bone!!!

They had the fab idea of of having a jar of free Dog Treats in the their Dog Friendly pub but asked customers for a small donation if they took one for their precious pooches!

This donation will be a great help to Dogs waiting for their forever homes at the Rehoming Centre.

We are so lucky to have such wonderful supporters and fundraisers.

Woof, Woof & Cheers!!

Hi Pup Pickers
If you didn't get a chance to listen to the Community Coffee Break with Bishop FM 105.9 with Gary Burgham at 10.30am this morning then you can listen again using the following link!

For Copyright reasons the tracks can't be repeated on the Listen Again.
Our first choice was 'It Might Be You' by by Stephen Bishop from the movie soundtrack of Tootsie. 'It Might Be You' is often the question potential owners may ask themselves when they meet the Dogs looking for their forever homes for the first time and I bet it's a question the many of the Dogs might be asking themselves too!!

Our second choice was 'Thankyou For Being a Friend' by Andrew Gold. Many may remember this from the classic TV Comedy The Golden Girls. It's a lovely song and it's our way of sending a big THANK YOU to all those Dogs for being our best friends and bringing so much love and joy into our lives.

Our Final choice was 'A Thousands Years' by Christina Perri. Many of us have very sadly lost a Pet. Paddy sadly passed in 2023 so this song means quite a lot to me and it is our way of saying we will love and remember those furry family members we have lost.

So very proud what our small charity with a big HEART Supporters of Stray and Abandoned Dogs - SoSad has achieved since our creation in 2008.
Also delighted that we are now able nominate Tendercare Rescue Dogs for next weeks Community Coffee Break.

Enjoy the Coffee Break!

Hi Pup Pickers

Some more photos of marvellous Moxley!

As you know I popped down to Deerness boarding kennels, cattery and rescue centre to walk some Dogs waiting to find their Forever Homes today.

Moxley is a lovable little chap, a real pocket rocket. You may recognise him as one half of the duo of Bella & Moxley! Bella has found her Forever Home. However Moxley is still waitingfor his!

He is a 6 year old Jack Russell and loves his walks and also can't get enough tickles & strokes! He seemed to be quite calm when we met other dogs on our walks.

Could you give him Forever Home? If you think you could call the Rescue & Rehoming Centre on 0191 378 0439 Monday to Saturday 10 till 1.30 or Sunday 11.30 to 1.30.

Hi Pup Pickers

It was BLOOMING marvellous visiting All in Bloom to officially launch the SoSAD Calendar Dogs 2025 by giving the team a free copy of the calendar to thank them for all their support providing lots of goodies for the dogs waiting for their forever homes at Deerness boarding kennels, cattery and rescue centre!

The Calendars were hot off the press today but I think French Bulldog Frankie and Tyson the cuddle monster were more interested in saying hello and having a look at some of the rescue dogs fetured on the 2025 Calendars!!

If you are interested in buying one of the Calendars also featuring celebrity Doggies such as Geoff's Dog Mia with exploits on the Tractor means she is a working dog in more ways than one. There is also Mellina's Dogs The Staffie Duo. Then why not buy one from those lovely ladies at Labyrinth in Bishop Auckland or they will also be available to purchase from Deerness boarding kennels, cattery and rescue centre.

Hi Pup Pickers

It was wonderful visiting Ang at Labyrinth today to officially launch the SoSAD Calendar Dogs 2025!

The Calendars were hot off the press today and 2 sold just as I got in the shop! Each month features a rescue dog and their story. Including celebrity foster dog Jess who sadly passed away this year. You may remember Jess launching the SoSAD Calendar Dogs 2024 last year at Labyrinth's 'Red Carpet' launch event!

If you are interested in buying one of the Calendars also featuring celebrity Doggies such as Geoff's Dog Mia with her friends. Then there is also Mellina's Dogs The Staffie Duo . Then why not buy one from those lovely ladies at Labyrinth just call in a buy one. All proceeds go to help care for the Dogs at the Rehoming Centre. They are just £5.

They will also be available to purchase from Deerness boarding kennels, cattery and rescue.

Great thing is you can do your Christmas shopping at the same time for all the family including your precious pooches as Labyrinth is Dog Friendly twice over in the lovely gifts you can buy and the welcome you will receive!

A big THANK YOU to Ang at Labyrinth for organising this! I had a brilliant time and got some wonderful ideas for presents!!

Supporters of Stray and Abandoned Dogs

SoSAD was registered by the Charities Commission on 1st April 2008, and has been active in fund raising and volunteer activities since that date.

SoSAD has raised funds, which has allowed us to provide financial assistance to Deerness Kennels, in Langley Moor, Durham, enabling us to make a major contribution to the vet bills and associated health care costs relating to the stray and abandoned dogs. As a charity we have no paid staff - all money collected by the charity goes to help the dogs.

Many of the stray dogs collected by the Dog Wardens in County Durham and Darlington are taken to Deerness Kennels. They remain in quarantine for seven days, during which time the owner may come forward and claim their dog. After seven days, all unclaimed dogs are moved into the Stray Dog kennels, where they are given health checks, wormed, flea treatment and micro-chipped. The dogs are also neutered. They are then available for re-homing.

SoSAD promotes a non destruction policy within County Durham. Your donations help SoSAD provide quality care, rehabilitation and re-homing of abandoned and homeless dogs. Your donation will really make a difference to those dogs that are in need the most. Donations can be made through our website www.sosad.co.uk
