They’ve been working hard on understanding the importance of basic training and correct use of the aids, building confidence, balance, and communication with the horses. 🐎💫

We want to extend a massive thank you to Philip, Eilish, Dennis, and Eve from Emerald Equine Vets for spending a full day with us at The Orchard Equine College on Tuesday this week!

Our learners enjoyed a day packed with educational activities , both hands on practical sessions and classroom based learning , all designed to build their confidence in equine veterinary emergencies. 🐎💉

We’re Hiring: Part-Time Equine Coach & Assessor

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Equine Coach and Assessor to join our team.

This part-time role (18 hours per week, flexible schedule) involves delivering high-quality practical and theoretical training in equine care, riding, and stable management up to Level 3.

Applicants should hold a BHS Stage 3 Coach qualification (or equivalent) and an Assessor qualification such as TAQA, CAVA, or A1.

We offer a competitive hourly rate (£14.50 –£20 depending on experience), a supportive working environment, and opportunities for professional development.

Starting a youngster’s education is all about clear communication and calm handling 🤍

This October, our learners have been helping the babies with their very first groundwork sessions, introducing them to personal space, leading, and simple cues.

These early lessons might look small, but they build the foundation for everything the horses will do in the future. At the same time, our learners gain first hand experience in reading body language, timing their aids, and working as a team to keep the youngsters relaxed and focused.

Our learners took on their first full clip (leaving legs on) and impressed us with the results.
Bambi enjoyed a lavender wash and hot oil treatment afterwards , leaving her looking and feeling her best, ready for the season ahead.

🍂🐴 Horse Care: Autumn Coat Changes 🐴🍂

As autumn sets in, our horses start to grow their thick winter coats to stay warm through the colder months. While this is perfectly natural, it does mean a little extra care and attention is needed.

This month, our learners will be busy with grooming and clipping, gaining hands-on experience while learning:
- Why horses’ coats change with the seasons
- How regular grooming keeps coats healthy and horses comfortable
- When and why clipping might be needed to support work and wellbeing

Not only does this keep our horses looking and feeling their best, but it also gives our learners the chance to build skills, confidence, and stronger bonds with the horses. 🐎❤️
