And

. It’s A Wrap. Another year and another DOTC show done and dusted. The show organising team of Di, Sandra and Yvonne ably supported by the one and only Gwyn did an amazing job - so much goes into organising a show that no one sees - portaloos, skips, organising judges and contracts etc etc- just thank you for all your hard work. Sunday was a fabulous show day with lots of smiles and happy handlers with their dogs - we hope you all enjoyed it and will be back to do the same next year. Line up photos show those going home the happiest this year.

Thank you to everyone who turned up on Saturday and Sunday to help set up and run the show. All our members, friends and relatives are absolute superstars and always ready and willing to turn their hands to whatever ‘jobs’ need to be done. The rugby club venue was super as usual with fabulous catering from Maggie and all in the Sin Bin cafe. Special thanks to all our judges, stewards and chief steward who all gave up their day so that others could compete - our sport couldn’t continue without these stalwarts.

The weather was kind, on show day, after the high winds on Saturday when the decision was made to - leave the sides off the marquees. The Saturday team left with visions of white tents trying to escape across the field and the refreshments were just moved from one van to another - ahh well the best laid plans. A very early start was then the order of the day for Sunday first of all to catch up on the Saturday jobs and then complete the set up. The ‘swans’ had very busy legs first thing but the show must go on and everything was finished so we could start on time - phew.

The raffle team did a sterling job and we were able to donate the money raised from the raffle and the training ring to Windyways and the Northern Interregional Team - thank you all for being so generous. There was a steady stream of people around the stalls too so thank you for supporting them - you really can never have too many dog toys and treats 🙈🙈.

At the end of the afternoon there was plenty of time to relax with tea and cake. Time for the judges stewards and the team to ‘catch up’ and chat about all things dog - the refreshments flowed throughout the day helping us all to ‘keep our strength up’ . Thank you to the Danesford Catering Crew and their leader Val.

Club members also had some successes - it’s no easy task working your dog and making sure you’re available to ‘do your duty’. So mega congratulations to our members who managed to juggle roles and still have ribbons to come home with.

The baton passed to Solihull for the ‘down South’ competitors and to Lune Valley for those ‘up North’. The Solihull team were blessed with much better weather than the ‘up North’ gang with the Lune Valley show falling foul of the weather with the Monday show being abandoned due to the extreme weather conditions - such a shame when clubs work so hard to put on these events but safety and welfare come first.

Much better news though from the Solihull show with another haul of rosettes for various members.

Beginners - 5th Jodie Parry with Megan
Obreedience - 4th Manchester Reunited
KC Special PreBees - 3rd Chris Harrison with Teal

Jodie, Megan, Luna and Susie all took part in the All - Breedience team event. This competition is run along the same lines as the Obreedience with slightly different ‘set exercises’ for the dogs and as the name suggests dogs of any breed including cross breeds can take part. There’s always huge amounts of fun to be had in any team event.
Obreedience- 5th Sit Happens Sometimes featuring Jodie with Susie Q

Well done everyone. The next major event is our own show next weekend - see you all there.

Another weekend with club members competing at a couple of shows in various disciplines.

Close to home near Holmes Chapel Agillidogz hosted a Hoopers competition.
Yvonne with Vikki gained a 1st place in
Touch and Go, and 2nd place in Hoopers - absolutely fabulous.

Then a little further south at Solihull and Hatchford Brook Shows were the obedience ‘gang’ - who set up a little encampment in the parking area as they sheltered from the sun.
Coming home in the cards:-
Saturday
Beginners
2nd Audra Hurst with Pedro
3rd Jodie Parry with Megan
Sunday
Novice - 5th Ann with Ash
KC Special Pre Bees - 9th Chris with Teal
Obreedience - 1st Manchester Terriers

Wigton and Lune Valley shows are held back to back at Westmorland County Show ground - with Wigton taking place first. This is a super venue with acres of space to walk and enjoy the glorious countryside. For those who love aircraft there’s also the opportunity to plane spot and maybe even ‘say hello to the pilot’ as the RAF do low flying manoeuvres over the show ground - wow.

Coming home more than happy this time from the Wigton show:
Novice -1st Val Lether with Meeko
Well what can we say winning out of Novice to be A and B only - way to go both of you 🎉🎉
Massive congratulations - we can’t wait for the chocolate cake 😂😂😂

The first of the ‘Up North’ shows at Redcar Rugby Club was hosted by Middlesborough and Redcar Dog Training Clubs.

There are some lovely beach walks to help dog and and handlers rest and recuperate - best of all the Stray Cafe drew us all in as an ‘homage’ to Vera😃. Only one negative - sand flies have pretty vicious bites đŸ˜±đŸ˜± - the less said the better.

As usual the venue was superb with rings well laid out and a food van to keep us all sustained. There were a few ‘if only’ moments - leaving the ring to sniff out a treat bag on the ground, a sneeze during a run off - but ah well we’ll just chalk it up to experience and move on.

Coming home happiest and in the ribbons this time:-
Novice - 3rd Val Lether with Meeko

And now the northern show circus moves to Wigton and Lune Valley - see you there đŸ€žđŸ€ž

The last couple of weeks have seen our Manchester Terriers ‘touring the country’ as only they can to not only promote their rare breed but also to have a great time doing what they do best.

Last weekend the youngest of the Harrison tribe, Rayn, passed her Silver KC Good Citizens Award together with her sister Breeze - so nice to have been able to do this together. This weekend there was more fun at The Game Fair, the MTs never stopped... Racing, agility, parades, a little impromptu obedience display and a couple of stints on the Manchester Terrier Stand!

What a brilliant set of advocates they are for their breed.
