Super busy week!!
Tuesday was Addington with Sandlings McQueen (Steve), DF Liberty’s Prince (Dragon) and DF Cevin’s Proposal (Griffin).
Steve did a couple of show classes as his owner Alex Kelly is very into showing so we had a crack at it. Steve did two really good shows but particularly excelled in the class which included jumping and we won 🥇 after a good round of jumping. He’s getting so much more confident everytime out and becoming much more rideable with every round.
Dragon and Griffin both did the 5 year old Burghley Young Event Horse class. Both boys made us very proud with their efforts no placings picked up but both learning lots and showing us more of what they’re made of everytime out. Everytime they go out make me more eager to get them out again.
Then we went to Pony Club Championships with Neptunus-Utopia (Bella), Classictop Viva La Vie (Viva) and Steve.
All in the Open dressage. Steve was up first and he did a test we were all very proud of as he’s not ready for the level but thought it would be another good experience for him. He did a sweet test and really tried to get a very respectable 63.6% with the C judge having him at over 65% as well so very happy with him.
Viva was up next and unfortunately she didn’t cope very well with having friends at a stay away with her and was rather tense and had some costly mistakes for this so only a 64.7% for her.
Bella was up last and she didn’t disappoint. Like Steve not really at the level only just really finding her feet at Novice level. She stayed really rideable and gave me the best ride I’ve ever had on her and even with costly mistakes pulled off 73.5% winning by just shy of 2% 💪. We then went into the ride off and she did another lovely test to finish in 4th in the ride off. Again some mistakes made but she was tired but again gave it her all so couldn’t have been more proud of her.
Viva then had the 90 eventing the next 2 days and she definitely made up for open dressage by starting the event on leading dressage with 17.4 😱. She did a good showjumping round considering how this is her weakest phase to just had 1 down. Then cross country she was very over excited and wild and even after 6 minutes was a bit all over the place and unfortunately being too distracted by people watching had a refusal at a corner but represented and finished well and still came inside the time so we probably would have had some speeding faults if we were clear. She was very brave and bold all the way round just a bit overly keen not making it the easiest 🙈.
Sunday then saw Emma Hinkley’s Oscar and Corona at Pyecombe. Corona jumped two great rounds and stepping up to her first 1.05m just unlucky poles in each. Oscar jumped a cracking round in the Newcomers (1.10m) to take the win.
A very busy week but some great days out with great results for all the horses. Thank you to everyone involved it’s been the best week 😊
