Super few days at BD U25 champs with the Bella, Viva and Steve. All impressed with improvements every time they went in the arena and me feeling like I learnt loads about how to ride each of them better 😊. Bella seems to live for the podium atm with that being her 3rd sash in 2 weeks 💪🥇

Thank you Lynsey Ryan Dressage for your help with the girls

Super busy week!!

Tuesday was Addington with Sandlings McQueen (Steve), DF Liberty’s Prince (Dragon) and DF Cevin’s Proposal (Griffin).
Steve did a couple of show classes as his owner Alex Kelly is very into showing so we had a crack at it. Steve did two really good shows but particularly excelled in the class which included jumping and we won 🥇 after a good round of jumping. He’s getting so much more confident everytime out and becoming much more rideable with every round.
Dragon and Griffin both did the 5 year old Burghley Young Event Horse class. Both boys made us very proud with their efforts no placings picked up but both learning lots and showing us more of what they’re made of everytime out. Everytime they go out make me more eager to get them out again.

Then we went to Pony Club Championships with Neptunus-Utopia (Bella), Classictop Viva La Vie (Viva) and Steve.
All in the Open dressage. Steve was up first and he did a test we were all very proud of as he’s not ready for the level but thought it would be another good experience for him. He did a sweet test and really tried to get a very respectable 63.6% with the C judge having him at over 65% as well so very happy with him.
Viva was up next and unfortunately she didn’t cope very well with having friends at a stay away with her and was rather tense and had some costly mistakes for this so only a 64.7% for her.
Bella was up last and she didn’t disappoint. Like Steve not really at the level only just really finding her feet at Novice level. She stayed really rideable and gave me the best ride I’ve ever had on her and even with costly mistakes pulled off 73.5% winning by just shy of 2% 💪. We then went into the ride off and she did another lovely test to finish in 4th in the ride off. Again some mistakes made but she was tired but again gave it her all so couldn’t have been more proud of her.
Viva then had the 90 eventing the next 2 days and she definitely made up for open dressage by starting the event on leading dressage with 17.4 😱. She did a good showjumping round considering how this is her weakest phase to just had 1 down. Then cross country she was very over excited and wild and even after 6 minutes was a bit all over the place and unfortunately being too distracted by people watching had a refusal at a corner but represented and finished well and still came inside the time so we probably would have had some speeding faults if we were clear. She was very brave and bold all the way round just a bit overly keen not making it the easiest 🙈.

Sunday then saw Emma Hinkley’s Oscar and Corona at Pyecombe. Corona jumped two great rounds and stepping up to her first 1.05m just unlucky poles in each. Oscar jumped a cracking round in the Newcomers (1.10m) to take the win.

A very busy week but some great days out with great results for all the horses. Thank you to everyone involved it’s been the best week 😊

Tuesday Neptunus Utopia (Bella) and Sandlings McQueen (Steve) went to Bury Farm Equestrian Village for BD Regionals Prelim.

Bella did a nice test just slightly tense and got 69.6% which was good enough for 3rd only 1% off the win as well. We also won best youth rider with this and have qualified to go to the nationals now!

Steve did a good test as well getting 66.6% out of the placings but tried really hard and pulled together a good competitive test amongst strong competition.

Thank you Lynsey Ryan Dressage for all your help with Bella.

Thank you Debs for all your help with Steve.

Sunday was a busy morning at the amazing Brightling Park Horse Trials. We had a great morning at a really well run and prepped event.

Started with first dressage on All That Jazz (Monty) owned by Rebecca and Jenny. He did a lovely test for 27.7. It was his first time doing a full course of showjumps and doing it on grass as well so we were happy to just have a few poles. Then xc he jumped a really good round really working it out more and more as he went round and growing in confidence with each fence just have a green moment at the second water. For a first event we were all really proud of how he tried and feeling very inspired to find some more for him.

Next up was homebred 5yo DF Liberty’s Prince (Dragon) he did a sweet test for 34.2. Followed by an improving showjumping round having 2 down but he’s never jumped on such sloping ground so it was a great test and he did very well. Then he cruised round the xc feeling confident and forward to all the questions asked of him just picking up a couple time faults.

Last was my own Classictop Viva La Vie (Viva). As I rode her test felt it was a nice test but little improvements to be made here and there but obviously I must have been being over critical as she got an 18.1 and even two 10’s in that. She then jumped a good showjumping just tensing up over a couple of fences and having 2 down but it’s still improvement. She then stormed around the xc making light work of it and we came home with speeding faults 🙈. Inspite of our poles and speeding faults she still won and has qualified for pony club champs next month 🎉.

All in all a very good morning and I was very happy to be back out xc after what felt like forever even if it had only been 3 weeks since our last event.

The ground and prep done by Brightling was amazing Dragon only has front shoes and no studs but because of the prep that had been done on the ground the going was spot on for all the horses to have really positive experiences

Saturday afternoon at Felbridge with Oscar in the Young Rider’s. 6yo Oscar flew round a rather technical 1.15m young riders class to do a cracking clear in the first round and then a quick clear in the jump off as well to finish in 3rd. He’s such a mega horse and very lucky to be able to ride him thank you Emma Hinkley 😊

Sandlings McQueen (Steve) at Felbridge Show Ground on Saturday morning jumped round the 85 and 90. He jumped two really good rounds just a pole in the 85 where there was a puddle behind the fence and he just tapped it behind slightly. But a smooth easy clear in the 90 and really growing in confidence every time out 😊💪

On Friday Oscar and Corona both went to Felbridge Show Ground. Corona in the 5yo 100 and Oscar in the 6yo 110. Both jumped really well. Corona struggled with the heat and felt a bit flat having 2 down and Oscar jumped super clear. Thank you Emma for trusting me on them and Rachel for the photos and all your help 😊

A great day at Petplan Area Festivals with Neptunus-Utopia (Bella) and Sandlings McQueen (Steve) yesterday.

It was Bella’s first stay away and she was a pleasure to take away much to all of our surprise. She’s a sensitive big girl so didn’t go with any expectations just aiming for a good experience. She did a nice test with no major mistakes but we also knew that she had a lot more quality she could have shown but she just got a bit nervous and came rather backwards. Even in a judges comments saying I was working harder than her by the end of the test 😂🙈. She still produced some good quality work and scored 71.7% which managed to give her the win by over 1.5% 🎉. Thank you Lynsey for all your help with Bella 😊

Plus standing for prize giving and interviews she was so amazingly well behaved it was as if she had been doing it for years.

Steve tried so hard for me and really gave it his very best. He’s only been back in work 3 weeks since having a 5 week holiday so for him to score 69.2% and place a joint 9th we were thrilled with. He tried so hard we were all immensely proud of how he coped and really gave it his all. Thank you Alex for trusting me with Steve and to Debs for all your help with him 😊

Now to get the rest of our Novice scores to try get to the summer finals for Novice with them both 😊💪

The gorgeous Sassy that has been in on for restarting then schooling is now 👀 for a new 🏡.
She is 16/16.1hh rising 4 years old mare.
She is from the breeder who is having to sell through change of circumstances.
She is a really sweet mare who is coming on in leaps and bounds with her work. She hacks out perfectly alone and in company. In the school she can be a bit opinionated so needs a competent rider.
Due to owner scenario quick sale required mid/low 4️⃣ figs
