Last weeks 'Fundamentals' graduates 🎓❤️ And the last of the summer cohorts...
Another fantastic group of dogs! Most of them pretty young still, and now set up with the foundations needed to develop into perfect companions 😁
As with all, this is just the start for them. The real work starts now by putting their learnings into real world situations, making use of what they can do and developing their obediences into behaviours!
I love watching the performances for graduations and seeing how far they come 💪🏼😍

You guys all helped us absolutely smash our goals... 😁🙌🏼
And because of that, we were able to reach even further, and help 3 separate charities!!
Can't wait for next years 😬❤️

🐾❤️ WE DID IT!!! ❤️🐾

When we started planning SDG Wag & Walk Charity Day 5 months ago we had two big goals…

🐶 Get 100 dogs through the gates.
💰 Raise £1,000 for Crowfoot Kennels Dog Rescue.

Yesterday, you absolutely SMASHED BOTH😭❤️

🐾 157 DOGS 🐾

💷 £3,000!!!! 💷

We genuinely can’t quite believe it.

The site was buzzing all day, the pack walks were incredible, hundreds of raffle tickets were sold and 157 dogs and their humans came along to support us 🥹🐾

Every person who attended, every raffle ticket bought, every donation made, every business that supported us, every share, every volunteer and every single person who helped behind the scenes contributed to what we achieved.

You made this happen 🐾❤️🐾

We set out wanting to make a difference for the dogs at Crowfoot…

100 dogs became 157.
£1,000 became £3,000.

We set out to help one rescue, Crowfoot, we ended the day helping three!

Crowfoot Kennels!
Paws a While Shelter!
Helping Yorkshire Poundies!

And what started as an idea became a day we’ll genuinely never forget 🥹❤️

From all of us at SDG Wag & Walk…

THANK YOU 🐾❤️🐾

SDG CHARITY DAY 2026 🐾 YOU ABSOLUTELY SMASHED IT 🐾

And 2027… 👀

WE’RE COMING FOR YOU. 🔥🐾

06/09/2026

Our local dog community is absolutely amazing!! ❤️
The kindness and generosity we've seen was off the scale, and made our first ever charity event a huge success 🙌🏼
Never thought we'd achieve what we did yesterday, and it's all down to our shared love for dogs!

❤️ WHERE DO WE EVEN START?! ❤️

We’re still trying to process yesterday, but before anything else, we need to say the biggest THANK YOU to everyone who helped make SDG Charity Day happen. 🐾

Our Team ❤️

The planning, organising, collecting prizes, setting up, running around like lunatics, solving problems and somehow keeping everything going yesterday… we couldn’t have done it without every single one of you. What an incredible team we have.

🐾 Crowfoot Kennels — the reason behind this whole day. The work you do giving dogs a safe place, caring for them and helping them on their journey towards finding the homes they deserve is exactly why we wanted to do this. We’re so proud to have been able to support you.

🐶 Paws A While — not only for the incredible work you do for dogs, but for the support you’ve given us throughout this event. You’ve backed us, helped us and been right there with us, and we’re so grateful.

🏖️ Valley Chalet Holidays — for the unbelievably generous donation of a 7-night dog-friendly holiday. You gave us an absolutely incredible prize and supported our little idea in such a huge way.

🎁 To every business and individual who donated a raffle prize, there were SO many of you. Every single donation helped us make the day what it was.

🛍️ To all of our brilliant stall holders who turned up, supported us and donated, thank you for being part of it!

🥖 Buckleys — thank you for supplying all of the bread rolls.

🥩 Hatton Butchers — thank you for supplying the meat and helping us keep everyone fed!

🏰 Bounce Bounce Bounce — thank you for bringing the bouncy castle and giving the kids something to enjoy while the adults talked about dogs all day.

📸 Paige Morris / Paige Morris Media — thank you for spending the day capturing all those moments that we’ll be able to look back on for years to come.

📷 Swadlincote Camera Club who came along with their cameras and captured the day from every angle. We can’t wait to see them all! Thank you!

🌳 Rosliston Forestry Centre — thank you for giving us the perfect place to bring everyone together and for supporting us in making the day happen.

And finally, YOU. ❤️

Every person who attended, donated online, bought a raffle ticket, shared a post, told a friend, brought their dog along or supported us in any way at all.

Yesterday wouldn’t have been what it was without all of you.

From the whole SDG Wag & Walk team…

THANK YOU. ❤️🐾

Riley - 3yr old American Staffy mix ❤️ Absolute stunner!
She's a lovely, and super affectionate dog with people in her circle, and great with other dogs.
There are a few areas she needs a little extra guidance with though...
The biggest, and most challenging is her behaviour with visitors coming to her home. She's not thrilled about having unfamiliar people in the house. She barks and lunges and isn't shy about letting her feelings known 😅 It's an area we've been working through for a few weeks, and she is improving, but still has a little way to go to see her feeling properly calm and relaxed with strangers inside.
Outside and on walks she pulls hard on the lead and she is super strong so her owners have had to resort to a figure 8 type lead, which none of us are keen on. Now she's accepted me as one of her people I was able to get her off a figure 8 and do a loose lead walking lesson and she was amazing!! Sprats, Rabbit ears and salmon sticks helped 😂
And then finally, a little tidying up around her recall. It's not bad, but not bomb proof either so we'll sharper that up over the next couple of sessions using her new favourite treats, and lots of fun and engagement 😊

The big one!!

👀🐾 OKAY… ONE MORE LITTLE TEASE! 🐾👀

We’ve been keeping something pretty exciting under wraps… 🤐

All we’re saying is…

🌊 You might want to keep your diary handy…
🐶 Your four-legged best friends can come too…
🏖️ And this is definitely NOT your average raffle prize! 👀

We’ll be revealing EVERYTHING very soon… and trust us, you’re going to want to be in this one! 😍🔥

Any guesses?! 👀👇

Alfie - 9 month old Cavapoo ❤️ He is an absolute belter!! As smart as he is good looking, and a true joy to work with...
As he's still just a dot, he's got a few areas to work on to see him really maximise his potential.
He's working on not barking, and not digging in the garden and is doing really well with both of these. He made choices today to not join in with the chorus when neighbourhood dogs started barking which is huge for him! 😁👏🏼
He completed our fundamentals class a short time ago so has solid foundations for bits we're now developing further.
He's learning to stay in his bed while presented with distractions. Again, nailed it 👌🏼
Recalling and super engaged around distractions on a walk (dogs and people, which as a super social boy he can't usually resist...). That's the power of engagement through play and treats!
And developing the disengagment part of his brain so see him make choices by himself to ignore things that aren't his business.
He was absolutely incredible today and I cannot wait to get some more done with him 😍

Thora - 1 yr old Cane Corso ❤️ She's a stunner!
She is super affectionate and loving with her family, and is a really sweet natured young dog.
All of her behaviours that need work and pretty typical for her breed...
She is suspicious and untrusting of people who aren't in her circle of trust, although when communicated with properly is quick to warm and was fantastic during our first meeting today 😁🙌🏼
She pulls on the lead, which is more problematic with heavy, strong and strong willed dogs.
And she can be dog reactive, which stems from uncertainty and feeling the need to protect so some clearer guidance, and a little disengagment training should put a stop to that.
Her recall is good, but could be better so we'll tidy that up too, and do some work around impulse control to help her make 'smarter' decisions.
I love this breed, and can't wait to help her become another fantastic example of what they can be when done properly 🥰

Nino - 3 yr old Springer Spaniel ❤️ Beautiful boy!!
He's a fantastic dog and generally does very well. There are a couple areas he needs a little extra guidance with though to help him feel relaxed in situations he currently finds difficult.
He is a little unsure of unfamiliar people so tends to bark and back off, although he was great during our first meeting 🙌🏼. He also pulls on the lead and is dog reactive. These things often go hand in hand so we've got a little work to do around that, but I have a feeling he'll 'forget' about his reactivity when he's walking nicely on his lead.
And he we need to tidy up his recall so he can be allowed off lead confidently in all suitable areas. Ball is life for him so we'll use that to aid our recall training, and likely start him on some seek and retrieving work too so we can utilise his nose a little better, and work his brain more.
Looking forward to getting stuck in with him 😍
