Before we head off on our travels at the end of the year we have some gorgeous specimens to move on. Breeding trio of H.Erectus seahorses, 2 x breeding pairs of bluestripe pipefish, breeding pair of orchid dottybacks, breeding pair of barnacle blennies, 1 x Pygmy dottyback and 10 x CB orchid dottbacks (bred by us). Happy Easter! We now have a selection of exotic and stunning Macro Algae’s available on the website. Macro Algae’s are a great accent to reef tanks and perform the very useful function of absorbing excess nitrates and phosphates and turning it into growth.

The Seahorse habitat is starting to grow in nicely and I’m in love with the Blueberry Gorgonian, a challenging non photosynthetic coral. Macro algae’s will soon be available on the website.

It looks like the male Reidi has successfully mated with the female and is now brooding a decent amount of eggs. Reidi are considered one of the most difficult of the Seahorse species so it will be interesting to try and raise some.

Our Story

Tropical marine animals are under severe threat from continuous habitat destruction and irresponsible over collection from the wild. Many fish are also caught using lethal cyanide which is both damaging to the reef and results in very short lived aquarium specimens. After travelling thousands of miles these fish are starving and stressed leading to many dying very shortly after arrival. These animals are often a host to many parasites that can affect your reef tank and infect other inhabitants. Many of the these fish are specialist feeders and struggle to adapt to captive diets. At Pholium we produce strong, healthy and fully adapted fish that will give you years of viewing pleasure without harming where these beautiful creatures live.
