The Pet Path Instagram and Facebook have been quiet for a few days while we've been working on something special...

We understand that sometimes there’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to animal husbandry. Everyone has a slightly different approach depending on their personal views and their cats’ needs as individuals. This simple handbook has been developed in collaboration with our Expert Panel to show where the latest scientific thinking can be applied to the real-life rollercoaster of raising cats and kittens in your home, and is completely free with every in-person visit from our team.

At Pet Path, we are here for breeders as much as the animals, and recognise the need for an inclusive community that appreciates those supporting one another. Let’s celebrate the diversity of experience, ideas, and skills we have - always led by up-to-date feline research.

[Description: An example of the new Breeder Handbook is sitting on a dark wooden table with some pages open showing the Socialisation & Habituation section. A delicious milky coffee is also in shot to sustain the Pet Path team while they work!]

And last, but by no means least, we’re proud to welcome and introduce Dr Susan Moreland, the fourth member of our Expert Panel.

Sue brings over 20 years of knowledge and experience breeding Bengal cats alongside her 46 year strong career in veterinary clinical practice. Advising a national governing cat fancy as part of their Genetics Committee, and officiating at many cat shows as the duty Veterinary Surgeon, there’s nothing Sue doesn’t know about ethical breeding practices. Sue brings the voice of responsible breeders to all our decision making, ensuring they are at the heart of what we do.

“I am delighted to support an initiative to promote the breeding and sale of kittens that have been reared to the highest health and welfare standards. I have grave concerns about current advertising rules which allow the sale online of unregistered kittens as “pedigree” when they clearly are not. The sale of such kittens is associated with many health and welfare problems but also misleads the public who can suffer emotionally and financially.” Dr Susan Moreland, Veterinary Surgeon & Bengal Breeder

“Recognising that there is ongoing demand from the public for pedigree cats, I am passionate about ensuring that the kittens bred not only have the best start in life; free from infections, well socialised and confident, but also a long healthy life spared unnecessary suffering that can stem from avoidable genetic diseases or from deliberately breeding for extreme and unnatural physical characteristics.” Dr Eleanor Mardell
