So today while down the gorge I got approached by someone who had 3 dogs two of which was on a lead and one who wasn’t. As most people who know me, Knows I am a dog Walker. To which today I was walking one of my customers dogs down the Gorge, whom I must stress was on a lead and no point does he ever go after the birds if he did I would not take him down there.
The dog that was off the lead who had no recall started to come towards the dog I was walking growling at him, thankfully the dog i was walking did not react, however when I asked if she could call the dog back and put it on the lead like the other two she got very argumentative and basically said she comes down every day and looks after the birds to which I replied this has nothing to do with the birds it has to do with her dog being off the lead when there are signs at either side of the Gorge stating dogs should be kept on a lead during breeding season of which August is one of them months. She then stated that I had a reputation for this.
I will NEVER be sorry for asking someone to put their dog on a lead or confronting illegal fisherman or confronting kids throwing stones at the birds or confronting kids shooting the birds as you all know we go above and beyond to look after the Wildlife at the Gorge. We do it totally off our own backs which we have done for the last eight years and have rescued and helped hundreds of birds down there. Apart from the bread, we pay for all the food ourselves and we both have full-time jobs but still make sure we are there every night to ensure everyone is fed and safe.
We only set up this page so that people can make us aware if there was any injuries in which we could deal with. We get no thanks from Essex Wildlife trust as their policy would be letting nature take its course. Where we believe if a bird can get treated for an injury which has been caused by a fishing hook, Or a territorial fight or flying accident why should it not get treated and live a perfectly normal life. So if I have a reputation for expressing my feelings and concerns about the Wildlife down the Gorge, I’m really sorry but I am passionate about what we do
Most people are appreciative of what we do and love the fact they are looked after, when they walk down there, they have the pleasure of seeing them without distress and know that if there is an issue, they can call us and we will do our best to assist if necessary 🦢🦢
Chafford Warren Gorge Is a beautiful place of
Nature of which sometimes is taken for granted. I’m sure along with us and many members of the community want to make sure that the Gorge remains a safe and clean place for both people and the Wildlife within to enjoy 🦢🦢❤️💙🦆🪿
