Hey everyone!

🙌 My name is Natalie and I originally set up North East Whippet Meets during lockdown. I don’t now come to the meets or organise them as I’m a bit busy with work.

🐾 I Tees Valley Dog Training and I’m a qualified trainer with UK Sniffer Dogs and have a scent detection course for beginners starting next month. If you feel you have a breed of dog that would never be good at this type of work, you are wrong! My whippet Twiggy has thrived, it’s a great outlet for busy dogs and 10 minutes of Scentwork is just as tiring as an hour walk.

👍 It promotes focus and engagement, you’ll have a great time and learn a heap about your own dog.

Apologies for the mix up in my post! I usually always plan the meets for a Sunday however accidently got my dates wrong so as a one off this month the meet will be SATURDAY 11th 11.30PM.

Meet under the pier, heading towards marske for little walk and play 🐶

Apologies that there was no meet in September but would like to know if everyone would be interested in a meet at Saltburn beach on the 13th October at 11.30am??

If so please leave a comment and I will post the event if enough interest.

High tide is 1pm which would mean not as much beach which is the reason for making the meet a little earlier.

Just wanted to let everyone know the next meet will be around September time once the summer holidays have finished as Saltburn beach is manic at the moment with the kids been off school.

Good turn out today thanks everyone for coming! 🌞

Just a little reminder regarding sticks and balls we don't encourage throwing these to avoid possession guarding, also sticks can be rather dangerous.

One of our little Whippets had a minor injury today so just a friendly reminder that if your dog is becoming a little bit overly excited can we try and get them on a lead. We just want everyone to feel safe allowing there dogs to have a run around, we also have alot of young pups at the meets so we just want everyone to feel safe allowing there's dogs to socialise.

Hi everyone...

I was ideally planning a meet for the end of April however I'm now away so need to bring April's meet forward. I wouldn't usually arrange a meet with this short notice so apologies for that. Im thinking this Sunday the 7th April 12pm Saltburn Pier please let me know if you can make it 🐶

Hi Guys…

💕 Just to let you all know that over the last couple of meets we have had a few incidents where poor little whippets have ended up in the vets.

With so many dogs in close proximity (and going at speed) it will inevitably raise arousal levels with all the dogs and we all know whippets can get a bit crazy sometimes 🐕 💨

High arousal levels in dogs can be perceived in different way such as barking, zoomies, hu***ng and sometimes nipping.

⭐️ If you feel you have a dog that may nip due to overexcitement please could you look at muzzling your dog for these meets.

🙌 As a qualified dog trainer, I’m happy to give you a quick call if you need any help or advice… as we just want all of our dogs to be safe and be able to enjoy the company of other whippets.

On a final note, we have had an issue in the past of food guarding and as we don’t know each other dogs (and there may be allergy problems) please could you avoid giving out treats to dogs you don’t know and only bring treats if it is a necessity for your dog to cue recall.

Great to see so many whippets and lurchers this morning - you may be able to spot all 13 of them amongst us, why they insist on running through our legs rather than along the huge expanse of sand is a puzzle 🤣

Hello, for those of you coming to the meet at Redcar in the morning, we will meet at Majuba Beach car park at 11am and head left along the beach so if you get there late, head down that way. Hopefully see a few of you tomorrow 🐾
