We had a little extra time due to a cancellation today so we used this to pop into the pet store a pick a birthday treat for Barney today!

He picked a trio of cupcakes to share with his friend 😍

The group enjoying a good ‘sniffari’

Letting them have time to sniff and browse has many benefits which include:

𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
Sniffing is brain exercise. Dogs have up to 300 million scent receptors (you’ve got about 6 million), so every sniff is like them reading a novel, not just “smelling grass.”

𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟:
Nose work lowers cortisol (stress hormone). Sniffing helps them chill out instead of acting like little furry grenades of anxiety.

𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐫:
Denying a dog sniffing is like taking someone to a library and telling them not to read. They need it.

𝐓𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐨𝐮𝐭:
A “sniff walk” can drain more energy than a brisk march around the block. It’s like mental cardio. It’s why our dogs at The Pet Happiness Centre go home tried and content.

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐭:
For nervous or reactive dogs, exploring scents builds confidence in a world that’s way too big and noisy for them sometimes.

It’s why we like to travel to interesting walking spots and are not about distance of the walks. For the gang it’s all about the quality, taking time to browse the environment.

Barney + Elvis = ultimate bromance.

They adore the whole crew, but when these two spot each other, it’s game over. Everyone else may as well go home.

Elvis had a rough start to the week (aka he missed a walk… tragic). But today? Oh, today he scored a full K9 Day Adventure with his main man. Cue the zoomies, sniffies, and synchronised tail wags.

Because let’s be real—life is just better when you’re road-tripping with your furry bestie. 🐾❤️🐶

Hot Weather Warning ⚠️

Next week is looking to be a hot one, particularly the start of the week. Therefore we will be starting earlier and finishing earlier (where necessary) to avoid the hottest part of the day and keep all doggies happy and safe.

Comfort visits will be offered for later afternoon and for the less heat tolerant dogs.

For now here is Barney, Milo and Logan’s AI boys day out photo for entertainment purposes.

Keep cool and see the gang next week!

Wowza that was a hot day!!

All the doggies that needed a visit and comfort break have been seen and thank you to you wonderful bunch of clients who offered drinks while I was on my visits…..hydration stations were certainly appreciated.

Hopefully we can resume normal services tomorrow as I know the dogs missed their walkies/day out with the gang.

See the gang tomorrow 🐶

How do we stay cool in this heat?

👉 Staying out of the sun
👉 Cooling off with a cool shower
👉 Limited time out and sniffy walks rather than running.
👉 Starting earlier (hottest part of the day is usual from 1pm onwards)

If we can’t do the above then we may have to cancel service or swap for home visits.

Any adjustments to service will always be in the best interest of the doggie and we appreciate your understanding during the summer months.

Thank you in advance.

As the weather warms up here is your annual reminder on our hot weather policy which will also be sent out to all.

All clients should have received their personal seasonal reminder.

Hopefully we have many nice but not stupid hot days as no one likes those (expect for a few crazy people 😉)

We will aim to keep you updated as soon as we can if we are needing to make any changes to service.

Such a beautiful day out and about today it almost felt like spring was in the air 🌼

Lovely shot of these two girlies who come all the way from Clacton after moving last year just to still get their K9 Day Adventure and see their friends ❤️
