🐾 BRUSHING BETWEEN GROOMS — ARE YOU GETTING RIGHT DOWN TO THE SKIN? 🐾
Regular brushing at home is one of the most important things you can do to keep your dog’s coat healthy and comfortable between grooming appointments. 🤎
But simply brushing over the top of the coat isn’t always enough! For fluffy, curly and longer-coated dogs, your brush needs to work right through the coat, down towards the skin.
When only the surface is brushed, tangles can remain hidden underneath and gradually tighten into mats. These are especially common in high-friction areas such as:
✨ Behind & underneath the ears
✨ Armpits
✨ Chest & belly
✨ Legs & paws
✨ Around the collar/harness area
✨ Base of the tail
Severe matting can pull tightly on the skin, cause discomfort and irritation, and may mean your groomer has no safe option other than clipping the coat short.
🪮 Our top tip: Brush in small sections, working through the coat from the skin outwards, then follow with a metal comb. If your comb can glide from the skin right through to the ends without catching, you’re doing a great job!
Just a few minutes of regular brushing can make your dog’s grooming appointments much more comfortable — and help keep that gorgeous fluffy finish for longer. 🐶✨
Brush the coat you can’t see, not just the fluff you can! 🤎
