🎉Bill and Ben have been released over the festive period. They came in 2 months ago and grew into very robust Wood Pigeon juveniles.

Thankfully the weather has been fairly mild for this time of year, perfect for releases!.... and all the wild birds out there 🥰🐦🐦🐦

Say hello to Betty 👋.... she was brought to me on Boxing Day with an injured wing. Thankfully her rescuer Siân from Dysart had taken good care of Betty and got her checked by St Claire Vets before heading to me.

Betty has another one of her 'flock-mates' here already.... Mike.

It would be nice to get them both released back home together.... next year! 🎉

🎅 Santa doesn't just bring presents.....but 2 injured pigeons! We've named them Dasher and Prancer.

Dasher came from Leven and Prancer from Kirkcaldy. Thank you to the kind folk who made the trip out last night. Unfortunately, unlike santas reindeer, these two can't fly very well and are needing treatment for an injured wing and injury to their side.

We wish all our Baby Beak supporters a very Merry Christmas 🎄 🐦🥰 I hope santa is good to you all.... you deserve it 🎁🎁

Remember our little Collared Dove from Glenrothes who couldn't fly after a shoulder injury.... well as predicted, after a couple of weeks cage rest she was flying no problem at all.

She joined another younger Dove from Errol who came in looking very weak and lacking in calcium 2 months ago.

It's always nice to pair doves up and they both got released together now that it's not so stormy!

This wee Feral Pigeon was being attacked by a Gull in Glenrothes. Luckily Jim Ross was passing by and saw the commotion and intervened.

The Pigeon has wounds to both wings and 2 small peck wounds to the back of the head, but thankfully no fractures or major damage. The wounds have been cleaned, dressed and he's on meds.

He was very lucky that someone was there... just at the right time!

Even wee Pigeons have guardian angels 😇

An injured young Collared Dove was brought to me the other day from Glenrothes by Maureen. Thankfully there are no major wounds ,only a slight weakness in her left shoulder. She's probably hit a window! Such a common reason for birds getting injured. She's very plump so has obviously been coping well after leaving the nest earlier this year.

A couple of weeks cage rest should do the trick 🤞

Lola and Lilo, the two Wood Pigeons from St Andrews, were released yesterday. It's so nice they became buddies after their dramatic rescues. Remember Lola was rescued out the water by the SSPCA!! A few other pigeons got released too...I'm taking advantage of a break in the weather 🌤

URGENT* there's an injured Feral Pigeon near the museum in Perth. Is there anyone in the area who can quickly check? The person messaging couldn't stop and rescue the Pigeon.

An injured Robin was rescued in Saint Madoes yesterday. Alanna got her Dad to drive her to Kinross with the little bird who has an injured leg. After some treatment the Robin was feasting on mealworms and thankfully survived the night 🥰

Also Claire from Wallace Vets in Broughty Ferry made an epic journey to bring a very cute Feral Pigeon to Kinross last night. The Pigeon had been handed into her work and was very hungry!
Both are doing well this morning.

A very dramatic rescue!! Thanks to the SSPCA 🙏On Sunday I got a call about a baby Wood Pigeon in St Andrews that had come out the nest and ended up stuck in a very dangerous spot. Thankfully a passer-by, Anna, heard the bird and realised help was needed fast as the water was rising!
I realised there was no way I could get to it so I called on the SSPCA to help. Thankfully one of their dedicated Fife team, Lea Bowskill, came to the rescue and managed to scoop the baby out the water!

The little Pigeon is drying off here at Baby Beaks and doing well. Anna has named this one Lola.... to go with Lilo from last week!

Meet some recent admissions to Baby Beaks 🙌
Bill & Ben were rescued near Kinross after their tree was trimmed. The person responsible was devastated and had checked. But it's a warning that Pigeon nesting season is not over!

Also Lilo was rescued by a very kind person in St Andrews who found the Pigeon on the street. She cared for him and was even willing to get a taxi to bring him over. Such dedication! We eventually managed to collect him.

Then there's Mike from Dysart who is a classic 'Scruff', the name I give scrawny, thin Feral Pigeons! Mike has a wing and foot injury too. Luckily he is part of a flock that visits a Baby Beaks supporters garden. So hopefully we can return him back to his family!

Little 'Fuzzball' grew up into a very sleek Collared Dove 🥰

Fuzzball was rescued in Rosyth at the beginning of September and spent the first few weeks getting tube fed and kept cosy in the brooder.
Then she very quickly started pecking at seeds before eventually moving out to the aviary!

She got released last week 🎉

Well done fuzzy 👏
