🐾 Friday's Walkies 🐾
Well I'm glad that week is over! It was just a little too uncomfortable for me in the heat.
Thursday's temp kinda just snuck up on us, it definitely was hotter than forecast!
I would like to say a massive thank you to our Pawsome clients for being very accommodating on the warmer days! It's not ideal having to shift things about but it is very necessary! I truly have been blessed with the most understanding and kind clients, and I do not take it for granted!
I've never felt like I've ever had to go in to great detail or much explanation when canceling walks due to extreme weather (red wind warning last year) or when I have had to shorten walks in the heat (this week) because i am again blessed with the best clients! They just get it! The pups safety is my top priority! A garden let out is much better than some alternatives! Its certainly not to make my life any easier when i cancel walks, in fact hot days, almost always, results in a loss of income due to cancelled walks.
I say it every warm spell "a dog has never died from a missed walk, but they sure as hell have from being walked in high temps"
Personally several of my dogs are brachycephalic breeds, so I am always cautious and putting those guys safety first, and everyone just gets it, one for all and all for one mentality! I mean we live in Scotland those days are few and far between, really!
So this week I have been really upset seeing articles shared widely about the bulldog in Scotland that was taken out by her "professional" walker on the hottest day, only for her lifeless body to be returned and left for her owner to later discover!
I sadly also witnessed cage sharing by another "professional " walker that resulted in a fight! On the hottest day, sharing (not from the same home I may add) just shouldn't happen. That's like sitting right beside someone in a sauna that you have just been shut in fully clothed! You're going to want space!!!
Ahh, I hate venting but this week has really gotten to me!
Please remember dog walking is not regulated AT ALL!!! Please be mindful of that when hiring a "professional"
Normal service resumes next week...hopefully!
Pass the bloody wine 🍷
(Again thank you to our Pawsome clients, you really do make life so much better 💕)
