Double trouble! 🐾 I've had such a lovely day looking after sweet Ellie while her humans escaped the house. I've done lots of training with her since we first met earlier this year, so it was nice to have some downtime together too 💕 Lots of snoozing, ear-kisses, a nice walkies, and playtime for a Sunday afternoon.

What a day! Mavis reckons it's exhausting spending all day playing, cuddling and sleeping - so exhausting, in fact, that she needs to catch up on a bit more sleeping before bedtime... 💤

After a busy day yesterday celebrating birthdays with family, Mavis and I are enjoying a restful Sunday relaxing together 💕

What have you been up to with your dogs this rainy weekend?

I think we're both relieved to be getting back to walks again. It's always difficult when our pets go through recovery for something because we can't explain to them what's happening and why. It's out of their control. All we can do is keep them as calm and comfortable as possible.

It's a good job they trust us as much as they do!

After all, we make all the decisions about their lives - what they eat, when they eat it, where they walk, who their friends are, what toys they have, when they can go to the toilet, where they sleep... And what they have done at the vets 🙃

The least we can do is give a little bit back. I try and let Mavis choose where appropriate - I ask her which toy she wants to play with, which post-walk chew she'd like, she has a selection of sleeping places, and which direction she wants to walk in.

It doesn't have to be hard. They might be small things to us, but these little choices can make a big difference to our dogs in a world where they have very little control.

You might already be doing these things, but if you're not, give it a go. Make your dogs happier.

Someone's feeling better! Pleased to report Mavis has had her stitches out and can start on short on-lead walks again 🙌

Since Mavis was spayed last week, she's been on strict bed rest which has been manageable up till now - the last couple of days however have been a bit more manic as she's feeling better!

She's had lots of pent-up energy and, being a highly strung little dog, I've needed to provide some activities to make this period of time a bit more bearable for everyone 🙈😂

Yesterday I took Mavis out for a drive. She loves being in the van and enjoys people watching plus all the smells of different places, so this little outing gave her brain a bit of a distraction from being stuck inside.

Fingers crossed everything goes well for her second check-up tomorrow... 🤞
