💔 Charlie Update – Urgent Appeal 💔
Sadly, this isn’t the good news we were hoping for this morning.
Charlie’s incredible foster family sensed something wasn’t right and rushed him to the vet as an emergency. After scans and assessments, the update was worse than we feared: something had gone seriously wrong internally.
We were told he would need urgent surgery—likely costing between £4,000–£5,000—depending on how much of the abdominal wall needed repairing and how long he’d need to stay. The vet kindly offered us the best price she could.
Despite the cost, we gave the go-ahead—because Charlie deserves every chance. He’s stolen all our hearts. 💛
After a tense wait, we got the call—Charlie underwent over three hours of surgery, followed by more than an hour in recovery. A section of his bowel had to be removed. The material he ingested had acted like a cheese wire, slicing through part of his intestine. The vet also had to repair damage within his abdomen.
This type of injury is rarely seen in dogs—more common in cats who’ve eaten thread or cotton—but Charlie’s case was severe. The original vet couldn’t have known how much internal damage there was.
💥 The next 3–4 days are critical. 💥
Please send Charlie all your healing thoughts. He’s fighting for his life, and we are doing absolutely everything possible to help him recover.
The first operation was covered by your amazing donations. Now, we’re asking for help again to raise funds for this unexpected, life-saving surgery.
No negative comments, please—just hope, love, and support. His foster family and vets have gone above and beyond for him.
We’ll keep you updated every step of the way.
🐾 With hope,
The Labradors in Need Team
