The one & only picture I have of riding my home bred boy Conker , he was a wonderful horse to back & it would have been so nice to have had longer with him ❣️ but he passed away in April 2023 (a month after this picture was taken) I am so grateful to have his daughter Flit still in my life . She is my little reminder of him and is now starting work to become a backed lady !

Some of you who came to my demo on energy work & liberty last Summer might remember my youngster Flit , I was blessed to witness Flit being born & have watched every step of her grow into a confident young girl. She is now starting her lunging education & getting introduced to tack . I love to build young horses confidence on the lunge, going between objects & building straight lines on the lunge as well as circles. I am very pleased with how connected she stays throughout the session , effortlessly moving from circle to straighline to circle again ❣️
She already has in place groundwork such as shoulder & hind end yields (away & towards me) and you can see how these pre-requisite exercises pay off & build a confidence when working further away from the handler .

Earlier this summer I really enjoyed showing off some of our tricks at Blackness Castle’s event , On location (Historic Environment Scotland)
It’s always great fun to perform liberty & tricks in strange environments but it is also a valuable learning experience! questions are honestly answered ; does my horse trust me? Does he enjoy working at liberty & doing tricks?
And of course as a handler am I actually listening to what my horse is telling me?

Personally when out in front on the public I go into a ‘zone’ with my horses , noises & movements from the public are all peripheral and my full attention & concentration is on my horses, this helps me to give clear aids and give my horses my full attention (downside is I’m not always smiling 🤣)

I’m so thankful to them for working with me honestly & happily ❣️

Over the last few weeks we have been focused on helping riders find a good balanced position , learning how to tune in & truly trust your own feeling, intuition & balance (one of my favourite exercises shown in the video below, closing your eyes & trying to maintain a straight line ) as well as using your own energy to influence the horse .
I am very proud of our students & looking forward to seeing everyone back again later this month & to see everyone’s progression ! 🤩

Having previously taught Flynn shoulder & hind end yields when we finally took off the line and asked the question ‘can you come back to me’ he answered with a lovely yes ❣️

Connecting with horses through liberty & trick training can be not only fun but fully awarding. When the horses decide that YES they would like to stick with you & run with you it adds so much to your everyday life with your horses.

Starting off our Trick Training Demos with a great day last Sunday at Traquair Dogs Day out!
A big thanks to Phoebe and her fantastic talk, whilst Apollo & I showed off some of his moves!
There are so many things about trick training dogs & horses which can cross over, not only just how rewarding it is!
Phoebe talked about different styles of training & different methods which we use throughout training sessions. One of my favourites is 'Shaping' , allowing the animal to shape the trick or move into something they love to do. This makes trick training extra fun for the animal.

This year has been a year of furthering my studies & education! A few years ago I became inspired to study to become a Bowen Therapist & early last year I took the dive to enroll on the course .
To begin with I was nervous, always wondering do I have time to study something new ? Do I have the capacity to learn this? Am I therapist material ?
But on receiving my first training manual the first page I flicked to had this quote along the bottom
‘Only those who have the patience to do simple things perfectly will acquire the kills to do difficult things easily’
I am always drumming this into my equine students & am always reminding myself of this when working with my horses !

Definitely a sign from the universe 💫

My second sign came when I received my first Bowen Hands magazine, the rearing horses 🐎
At the moment I am training Human Bowen but my long term goal is to treat horses as well , the universe was definitely giving me a push in the right direction .
Thank you universe 🙏

I am now nearing the end of my course & will qualify soon , so I feel it is now time to put it out to the world that I am nearly ready to add another tool to my toolkit of helping horse owners find their balance , not only Physically but mentally , emotionally & spiritually ☀️🌙✨
