Just in case you’ve had enough pretty alpaca photos ( only joking) here are a couple of cool insects found on our farm this week. The shiny blue / black beetle is a Minotaur beetle, but even more weird, is the great diving beetle found in our yard! Probably looking to colonise a new pond. It was huge and can bite!

Today was shearing day. A busy, but fun day it has to be said. (Glad it’s over for another year, but a great time to enjoy the fleeces of our beautiful alpacas & llamas)
So many people to help, and the day was seemless- it’s important to enjoy these full on days. A massive thanks to all involved and of course to Matt Kyle and Dan who takes holiday to help Matt out. Great to see you guys.

Well that was an exciting BAS National Show weekend. Thank- you to the organisers and stewards and the tireless work of the judges for an action packed weekend. We are totally delighted that Eureka ( RICO) won supreme champion Suri fleece with a score for his junior fleece of 89 points. Just look at the size of that fleece!
He then went on to win white male Suri champion on halter.
Prince Caspian won fawn champion fleece and halter champion male fawn at rising 4 years old. Eirik the Viking won his class as a fawn intermediate male Suri, but lost out to Spring Farm Prince Caspian in the championship.
Thistledown Tolstoy our incredible eeaa fawn herdsire won the Suri progeny class. We had two further rosettes, a third and a fourth from our team of 5 alpacas. Thanks to Holly for her help and also an awesome first show for her.
