The feelings and emotions that surround euthanasia and end of life in our pets can be huge, varied, and complicated. Pet carers often as whether it's normal to feel relief, and often subsequently guilt. The answer is yes. Often our pets have been declining for a while, and the decision to euthanise is the last act of kindness to end their struggle.

FEELING RELIEF AFTER PET LOSS

Before we experience grief first-hand, most of us imagine it to be dominated by sadness. One thing we don’t imagine is that we may feel relief, which is why it can be such a shock – and source of shame – when we do.
