HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE 🥳

Following a six month social media hiatus, I’m officially setting myself a New Year’s resolution to be more active on here again as I can assure you all it’s still very much business as usual here at Garland’s HQ! Most of you have probably been wondering why the radio silence on the rescue front, but all will be explained in this post I promise. To those that have checked in, thank you.

First and foremost I want to begin by thanking you all profusely for the love, kindness and support you continue to show us year after year. Your loyalty truly is unmatched. You are the reason we are able to pursue our passion, almost eight years on. We hold so much love, appreciation and gratitude in our hearts for you all. What a blessing to feel so valued by so many people. We are also SO grateful for all of our wonderful gifts, tips and cards we’ve received for Christmas this year. So thank you all, so much, even if we will be returning to work tomorrow two stone heavier .. and with a well overdue van upgrade 😅

2025 has been a pretty life changing year. As most of you know, Ronan and I parted ways back in 2024. He subsequently left the business in July of last year, when the doors at the rescue were continuously revolving, it was my idea of perfect chaos. Ronan was crucial in the runnings of the business, maintaining a full time position and keeping everything ticking over. He was a huge loss to Garland’s, but we remain forever grateful to him and his work ethic in ensuring the business was run to the highest of standards for so many years. Following Ronan’s departure, a lot of uncertainty followed. I had to take a huge leap and solely purchase a new house to accommodate me and my dogs - which I’ve been renovating ever since, I had to return to full time work to ensure the business was still able to operate at full capacity and that my huge overheads were covered which will always be my number one priority, and I also had to recruit new workforce in order to meet the business’ ever growing demands. My bloomin’ wonderful mother joined the workforce back in July, and we are now a pretty special team if I do say so myself. To have someone by my side who shares the same passion as myself and who genuinely LOVES what we do, is unmatched. As you can imagine, these major life changes have taken some navigating and subsequently, precious time that was previously devoted to the runnings of the rescue. As a result, I had to temporarily step away from rescue operations until my situation re-stabilised, as unfortunately there was only one of me, and I couldn’t physically be in so many places at once with my own horses and dogs to also solely care for. It was one of the most difficult decisions I ever had to make given the incredible love and support I received from the Garland’s community. I can’t describe how empowering it feels to have an army of people backing you and your dream every step of the way, I’ve never known purpose quite like it. To work so hard to enable your dream to come true, only for it to come to fruition, give you the most life altering memories, change so many lives and give you purpose unlike you’ve ever experienced before, to then have no option but to hit the pause button for a while, it was devastating. Knowing there were still so many poor souls out there that desperately needed my help, and I wasn’t in a position to help anymore, broke me beyond belief. But in amongst the bad, so much good followed. For the first time in so long, I actually learned to slow down. I prioritised my physical and mental wellbeing and as a result, became a better partner, daughter and friend. Something I had neglected for so long without even realising, which isn’t uncommon being on the go constantly. As a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, I am trusting the universe’s timing, and what’s meant for me, will be. Having successfully rehomed 55 dogs into wonderful, forever homes, this most certainly isn’t a goodbye to the rescue, but rather a see you later. And that’s a promise.

So, here’s to another super fun year spent doing what we love most and adventuring alongside our best pals. As always, we have space to welcome new faces in 2026 for group walks at our secure field. We can’t wait to see so many new and familiar faces this week as we return to work after a wonderful Christmas break. Our love always, Ashtyn & Emma ♥️🐾

Yesterday was simply put, one of the most difficult things I’ve ever had to do. No one prepares you for the world of rescue, and the heartbreak that often comes with it. Trevor & Clyde (the most wonderful boys in the entire world) found themselves in my care almost five months ago as tiny little puppies, and I have loved them dearly every day since. Having basically raised them as my own, these boys have imprinted on my heart forever. As most of you know they’ve been in my care for half of their puppyhood without any interest, and that’s all I ever dreamed of with each passing day is that they would finally find their forever homes, but as months passed, the upsetting reality was setting in that they were very unlikely to have found their forever families whilst in my care. This left me with the heartbreaking decision to reach out to larger, more established rescues in the hope that they would have more success there. And yesterday they left on their new journey at Newport Dogs Home. And I am broken. Feeling as though I’ve failed them, I feel overwhelmed with guilt. But this was a decision based purely out of selflessness, as difficult as that is to understand right now, but they deserve to be loved and nourished as they have SO much love to give. God am I going to miss seeing their gorgeous little faces every morning, and kissing them good night every evening. I’m so sorry my boys, what I would’ve given to just see you through right until the very end of this journey we’ve been on. I’ve had to stop myself driving back all day, but I know I’ve granted them the best possible chance they are going to get at finding stability with a wonderful rescue who have their best interests at heart. If only my circumstances were different and I still had a home to call my own to give them. Thank you for showing me a love I never thought possible, thank you for the best memories, thank you for everything. Please, let’s not keep them waiting any longer to find their forever homes once they are available for adoption 🙏🏻 I will miss and love you both forever, go and live your best lives my special boys. I just wanted to share the incredible generosity of Hallmark Greenhill Manor Luxury Care Home with you all, collectively raising a MASSIVE £800 for us!!! This has subsequently taken so much financial pressure off us having been able to pay almost three months worth of kennel rent upfront, meaning I can continue to help as many dogs as I possibly can with minimum overheads for the whole duration of summer. I’m so overwhelmed by these wonderful ladies kindness, and for choosing us as your chosen charity, I truly am so grateful. It means more than you’d ever know 🤗 Thank you thank you thank you!

Earlier this week we had the absolute pleasure in welcoming Ashtyn, Poppy and Finn from Garland's Pet Care & Animal Rescue .
A few weeks ago all the Welsh homes came together for an Easter Quiz and between them raised £800 and it was agreed by all that the money raised would be donated to Garlands so they can continue to do what they do best, giving each dog another chance of a happy fulfilled life.

Poppy & Finn were a great hit and were fussed a lot by residents and team.

Introducing the absolutely beautiful Harper, a one year old Cockapoo female who is looking for her forever home through no fault of her own 🏡 She has been vaccinated, microchipped, flead and wormed.

Once you earn this girls trust, I can assure you that you’ll have a best friend for life. She is the most affectionate, loving and sweetest soul once she’s gotten to know you. She’s initially very shy and will require a patient, understanding home who will give her the space she needs until she feels comfortable. She is now my shadow, and I honestly think she’s more misunderstood than anything. With plenty of exposure, she is going to excel given she is still so young. She LOVES her humans.

Harper NEEDS a home with another kind, confident and sociable dog who can show her the ropes. She is a different dog in the company of other dogs, she absolutely adores them and will play all day if she could. She can also live with cats. She is such a sociable, playful girl. Even though the world is still a little scary to her, she has taken everything in her stride - she’s honestly such a pleasure to have around and to take places. The more she does, the better she’ll be. She really hasn’t got a bad bone in her body. Harper loves adventuring and walks well on a lead, her recall may need some work in time. Harper would prefer someone to be home most of the time, at the moment she initially gets quite upset when left (who can blame her). Having another dog in the home will help her massively. Any potential adopter just needs to be patient and understanding until she feels safe and at home again. She is getting so much better with being left since arriving. She’s also a great traveller in the car.

Harper is going to provide one lucky family with endless love. She has proven to be such a resilient, trusting character considering the upheaval she has endured. Introducing the absolutely adorable Poppy, a seven year old Miniature Dachshund female (she is TINY!) who is looking for her forever home through no fault of her own 🏡 She has been microchipped, flead and wormed.

This girl is the definition of adorable. She is the most affectionate, loving and sweetest soul. Simply put, she just wants to be loved more than anything in this whole world. In Poppy, you’ve got a little best friend for life. She adores humans big or small and dogs big or small. She honestly has the most placid, docile nature. She isn’t your typical vocal Daxi (at least she hasn’t displayed this here), and takes everything in her stride - she’s honestly such a pleasure to have around and to take places. That’s all she wants to do is burrow under her fluffy blanket, make dens, sit on your lap and have her daily potter about with her four legged pals. Poppy adores other dogs and is very comfortable in their company. She really hasn’t got a bad bone in her body - she even met residents at a local care home today and was a dream. She also loves children.

Don’t be fooled, Poppy loves adventuring and has wonderful lead manners both on and off lead. Poppy would prefer someone to be home most of the time, at the moment she initially gets quite upset when left (who can blame her). Having another dog in the home will help her massively. Being completely self funded, donations are the backbone of our rescue. Consistently receiving donations like these enable us to keep doing what we do, and there will never be enough words to express my gratitude for your undying love and support for what we do, for getting on board with our mission. Both me and all the dogs residing here at Garland’s want to say a HUGE thank you for all of your personal donations, but most importantly to Tails of Blackwoof for setting up a donation point at their secure field, and for personally matching these donations at their own expense - alongside allocating us free sessions at their wonderful field, you guys truly are the best. Thank you for giving so much back to your local community. Gestures like these are reminders as to why we do what we do, even if times are tough I have every reason to keep smiling right now 🤗

Introducing the absolutely gorgeous Zulu, a nine month old Show Cocker Spaniel male who is looking for his forever home through no fault of his own 🏡 He has been vaccinated, microchipped, flead and wormed.

This boy has to be one of the most affectionate, loving, sweetest souls I’ve ever come into contact with. Simply put, he just wants to be loved more than anything in this whole world. He is the true definition of a Velcro dog and wants to be with you at all times, understandably so given the upheaval he’s faced this past week. He’s just a big baby 😅 He LOVES humans, and for any spaniel lovers out there, this boy is the epitome of a dream dog.

Zulu has lived with children and adores them. He’s very receptive to commands and is a dream to have around. He is never ever far from your side. Zulu Ioves other dogs and is very comfortable in their company, he is a sensitive soul who will need lots of exposure to the outside world in order to flourish, so I believe he would love a kind, confident resident dog to guide him. He really hasn’t got a bad bone in his body.

Zulu loves adventuring and has great lead manners once he settles, has lots of energy to burn but equally loves his down time. His recall is fantastic, given how bonded he is to his human, I believe this boy could go on to do amazing things given the correct training and direction. I’ve been told he is house trained. He is used to being left alone for long periods, but Zulu would prefer someone to be home most of the time, at the moment he initially gets quite upset when left (who can blame him), but he does settle. Having another dog in the home will help him massively. Any potential adopter just needs to be patient and understanding until he feels safe and at home again.

Introducing the absolutely adorable Teddy, a four year old Toy Poodle x Sh*tzu cross who is looking for his forever home through no fault of his own 🏡 He has been vaccinated, microchipped, flead, wormed and is neutered.

This boy has bundles of personality, all packaged into the tiniest, cutest little body. A true definition of the perfect companion - be prepared for a velcro dog, he wants to be with you at all times, but who can blame him having faced so much upheaval in the last week. He just wants to be held like a baby 😅 He is sooo sweet, and so affectionate. He LOVES humans, he truly is the friendliest, most outgoing little man. I just think he’s absolutely awesome.

Teddy has lived with children and adores them, he is such a gentle boy with wonderful manners. He’s very receptive to commands and is a dream to have around. Teddy Ioves other dogs and is very comfortable in their company - he is very playful! I was told he can be quite territorial in the home with other dogs, but he’s been absolutely fantastic with my two as they just leave him alone, he just doesn’t like sharing his food with other dogs (no issues at all with him humans). Because of this, Teddy can either be rehomed as an only dog or with another respectful dog who’s happy to be fed separately, as I know he’d benefit so much from having another four legged friend in the home.

Teddy loves adventuring and has great lead manners once he settles - he is very excitable and has lots of energy to burn. His recall is improving vastly here. He is house trained and crate trained - he will eventually settle at night time and has slept all night downstairs here. He is used to being left alone for long periods, but Teddy would prefer someone to be home most of the time, at the moment he initially gets quite upset when left (who can blame him), but he does settle. Any potential adopter just needs to be patient and understanding until he feels safe and at home again.
