I’ve been looking at ways how I can give something back & help with the current crisis we have with the overcrowding of our dog shelters currently.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Good morning

As we continue to grow I am looking for either a permanent venue to rent or a venue hire to accommodate classes of an evening/weekends.

Land with outbuildings, school/sports halls, warehouse type units, community halls etc?? If anyone knows people who have or work at a suitable premises that’s a good size and is available evenings/weekends if you could put me in contact with them I would be very grateful 🙏

My mind is absolutely blown with the speed of the turnaround on this success story!!! 🤯 🤯🤯

After speaking with this client back in April it sounded like a complete reset was needed as a lot of problematic behaviours had began to creep in.

I had just finished our NEW online training course ‘how to raise the perfect puppy’ and thought it would be a great opportunity to put it to the test.

Within 10 days there was a noticeable difference with the results that they started getting but I still believed they would look to rehome the puppy unfortunately.

2 months later and their puppy was absolutely thriving and the results by their admissions were incredible.

I have never met these clients but it’s clear to see the true value in this course with the depth’s we go to in covering everything that is needed to help raise a puppy in the all important first year of their life.

We endeavour to help people get it right with their puppy. We will continue to make it as accessible and simple as possible. This course has it all!!!

How can we keep our furry friends safe in the hot weather?
🐶🐶☀️☀️

It really is important we don’t leave dogs in cars at all during the day in summer months. Not even for 5 minutes!!!

Cracking the windows is also ineffective for generating any airflow through the vehicle so bear this in mind too.

Dogs, especially puppies really struggle to regulate their own body temperature in hot weather.

The only way a dog can regulate it’s own body temperature is through panting, they don’t sweat like us.

Really consider is the ground too hot for walking. Asphalt, hot pavements & artificial grass can get extremely hot. Put your own feet on it??? Can you walk on it??

I know we want to go out & about with our furry friends but the best thing you can do when the temperature starts exceeding 20 degrees is leave them at home in the cool with access to plenty of water.

I see too many dogs on scorching days, heavily panting, looking hot & bothered. Out in the midday sunshine, it’s madness!!!!

- Recall is something that goes down hill very quickly 📈📈

- Being off lead is a privilege that must be earnt 💰 💰

- You must create reliability in all situations by not allowing them too much freedom and by building solid foundations.

- Every time your puppy runs off to something such as another dog, bird, squirrel, adult/child they are getting self rewarded for that behaviour. Think of the dopamine being released in the brain when they are chasing wildlife or bundling with another dog. We simply cannot compete with that!!!

- You MUST stop it happening first and foremost before you can move forwards and change the behaviour.

- Then go back to basics and start training them to do what you want them to do. COME BACK when called!!

- Repetition and consistency over a sustained period of time is what gets results. When Baxter was a puppy I was doing a minimum of 300-500 recalls a day, every day.

- I always did it in an environment that guaranteed me success.
I never expected too much too soon and I very rarely put him in a situation that would set him up to fail(make it too difficult). Did I get it wrong occasionally. Yes I did! Did it affect his recall in anyway, no it didn’t!!

- In Baxter’s first year of training i can honestly say it was under 10 times that he managed to run off to something and I got it wrong. Some puppies are doing this daily 🤦🏻🤦🏻

- Lastly have some consideration for those fearful, reactive or frail old dogs that don’t want a puppy running over to them and being an absolute moron!

Don’t be that plonker standing there calling your dogs name over and over and over again, with them ignoring you. It’s bad manners, it’s not how puppies should behave and they learning all the wrong behaviours!

The only way is RECALL

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy New Year!!!

Another crazy year has flown by and for me it’s always a time to reflect.

Im so pleased with where we are going and what we are building here at Paul Haylock Dog Training. 🚀 🚀 🏆 🏆

Another 2 new venues added for our puppy pre school at Mill Hall Arts & Events Centre in Rayleigh and Deanes school sports Centre in Benfleet. With hopefully more on the horizon very soon!!! 🐶🐶

My trip to Peru made me take a look at my life on a whole new level and will certainly make me a better father, husband and person moving forwards, something that I am always striving to be. 🇵🇪🇵🇪💪💪

Gratitude is certainly something I will be focusing on in 2024. I am truly grateful for the life i have, the opportunities that are out there for me and we are going to smash it in 2024!!

2024 is also going to be a year where I give more by trying to help as many people as I can. That’s why I’ve created my FREE online academy. It’s a chance for me to offer my support & guidance on a whole new level and the best thing is, it’s absolutely FREE!!!

We are very passionate about raising puppies the right way.
