🐾 A Little Wet-Season Reminder About Alabama Rot 🐾
As we head into the wetter months, many of us will be out enjoying muddy fields and woodland walks with our lovely pups. It’s all part of the fun, but this time of year is also when Alabama rot (CRGV) is most often reported.
While it’s still a rare condition and the exact cause isn’t fully understood, it has been linked to muddy, wet environments. So it’s a great time to be extra aware and take a few simple precautions:
🌧️ After muddy walks, give your dog’s legs and paws a good rinse and dry.
Keeping them clean helps reduce the chance of any bacteria or irritants lingering on the skin.
🌿 Avoid letting dogs stay wet and muddy for long periods.
🚶 Stick to familiar routes when possible and be cautious around very boggy or stagnant areas.
👀 Keep an eye out for unusual sores, skin changes, or if your dog seems off.
(If you ever spot something worrying, always contact your vet promptly.)
Remember! Alabama rot is rare, and this is just about spreading awareness so we can all keep our furry friends safe while still enjoying those outdoor adventures together.
Stay dry, stay muddy-smart, and give your pups an extra cuddle from us! 🐶🐕🤍
