Beautiful Miniature Bull Terrier at our puppy class 🧡

Whilst we’re helping her learn neutrality around other dogs and distractions, we’re also helping desensitise her to different terrains and surfaces for the show ring 🧡😆

This is why I’m always talking about the importance of a good training setup. What looks like a simple puppy class is often helping dogs in so many different ways at the same time.

One exercise. Multiple benefits. 🐾

I honestly couldn’t recommend this company enough. I’m incredibly particular about who looks after my dogs - so much so that my mother-in-law is usually the only person I trust to have them!

But if I ever needed pet sitting, I wouldn’t hesitate to use Ryan at MBF Dog Walking & Pet Services. That says a lot coming from me!!😂

I trusted Ryan with my dogs when he helped walk them while we were away last year, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend his services to anyone looking for reliable, trustworthy pet care❗️

⭐️ Overnight Pet Sitting 🐾

Looking for someone trustworthy to stay with your pet while you’re away? My overnight pet sitting service provides your pets with comfort, companionship and their usual routine in the familiar surroundings of their own home.

🏡 What’s Included?

My overnight pet sitting service runs from 6:00PM until 8:00AM and is designed to give your pets company, care and reassurance throughout the evening and night.

As part of the overnight stay, your dog(s) will receive an evening walk after I arrive and a morning walk before I leave, helping to maintain their normal routine and ensuring they get the exercise and enrichment they need while you’re away.

I bring everything I need with me, including my own camp bed, food, drinks and personal essentials, so there is very little disruption to your home. I’m also happy to set up camp in whichever room you feel is most suitable.

🐶 During My Stay I Can:

✅ Feed and provide fresh water
✅ Give toilet breaks and companionship
✅ Maintain your pet’s normal evening and morning routine
✅ Take your dog(s) for a walk upon my arrival to help them settle for the evening
✅ Take your dog(s) for a morning walk before my departure
✅ Provide plenty of fuss, attention and cuddles
✅ Administer medication if required (please discuss beforehand)
✅ Keep your home secure while you’re away
✅ Put bins out for collection day if required
✅ Leave your home clean, tidy and exactly as I found it

⚠️ Please Note

This is an overnight service only, covering the hours of 6:00PM – 8:00AM.

If you are booking multiple nights and would like your pet cared for during the daytime hours when I am not present, additional services must be booked separately. For example:

🐾 Drop-In Visits
🐾 Solo Walks
🐾 Group Walks

This ensures your pet receives the appropriate level of care and attention throughout the day.

🤝 A Small Request

If you have family members, friends, neighbours, cleaners, dog walkers or anybody else visiting your home while I am pet sitting, I would really appreciate being informed beforehand. This helps avoid any confusion and ensures everyone involved in your pet’s care is aware of each other, allowing everything to run smoothly.

💳 Booking & Payment Information

To secure your booking, a £20 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of confirmation. This reserves your requested date(s) and prevents availability from being offered elsewhere.

The remaining balance must be paid in full at least 7 days before the service begins.

Previously, final payment was due after the service had taken place. However, I have now updated this policy to help streamline the booking process, ensure dates are fully secured and allow me to focus entirely on caring for your pets rather than organising payments.

📅 Please note that bookings are not confirmed until the deposit has been received.

—-

My aim is always to provide your pets with the highest standard of care while giving you complete peace of mind knowing they are safe, comfortable and well looked after in their own home.

A free meet & greet is required before any booking can take place. This gives us the opportunity to get to know one another, discuss your pet’s routine, needs and personality, and ensure I’m the right fit for both you and your pet.

If you’d like to discuss your pet’s needs or arrange a meet & greet, please feel free to get in touch.

🚨 JUST BECAUSE A DOG IS “RARE” DOESN’T MEAN IT SHOULD BE BRED 🚨

The dog world has become obsessed with colour😩

Rare colours, unique markings, all-white coats,
“One of a kind” puppies

But here’s the question… At what point does appearance become more important than welfare? 🤔

In some breeds, white coats occur naturally and have done for generations.

But in others, breeders are intentionally selecting for extreme white colouring because it attracts attention, increases demand and often allows puppies to be sold for higher prices❗️

The problem? Pigment isn’t just about coat colour.

The genes responsible for reducing pigment can also be linked to health issues such as:
👂 Hearing impairments and deafness
👀 Vision problems
☀️ Increased sensitivity to sunlight
🩺 Skin and pigmentation issues

This doesn’t mean every white dog will experience these problems. But it does mean potential owners deserve to be given all the facts before making a decision!!

Too often, buyers trust that breeders are providing them with all the information they need. Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case.

Instead, some people are sold the idea of a “rare” dog without fully understanding the potential health implications associated with the genetics behind that appearance. A responsible breeder should be just as willing to discuss potential health risks as they are to advertise a rare colour.

This is exactly why these conversations need to happen
Not to criticise owners.
Not to blame the dogs.

But to encourage people to do their research, ask questions and look beyond appearance when choosing a puppy!!

Because colour should never be more important than health, welfare and quality of life‼️

What are your thoughts on breeding dogs for unusual colours?

🚨 NEW BLOG OUT NOW 🚨

Does your herding breed seem constantly “on alert” out on walks? 👀
Barking at dogs, chasing movement, reacting to bikes, runners, cars or struggling to switch off?

There’s often a deeper reason behind it… and it may be linked to what they were originally bred to do

Herding breeds are naturally wired to:
✔️ Notice movement quickly
✔️ Stay highly aware of their environment
✔️ Control space and motion
✔️ React fast to changes around them

So when these instincts combine with stress, frustration, over-arousal or lack of guidance… reactivity can start to appear

This doesn’t mean your dog is “bad” or aggressive. Many reactive dogs are actually overwhelmed, hyper-vigilant or struggling to regulate their emotions in busy environments.

If you own a:
• Border Collie
• Australian Shepherd
• German Shepherd
• Belgian Malinois
• Cattle Dog
• Or any herding-type mix…

This blog will probably make SO much sense to you 🧡

Why Reactive Dog Owners Feel Judged 🧡

People see the barking
The lunging
The chaos on the end of the lead

But what they don’t see is everything happening behind the scenes

They don’t see the owner waking up early to avoid busy walks..
The tears after difficult walks
The constant worrying about what might happen if another dog suddenly appears around the corner

And unfortunately… reactive dog owners often feel judged everywhere they go

“You need to train your dog.”
“Mine would never do that.”
“He just needs more socialising.”

Most people are quick to judge the reaction - without understanding the reason behind it

Because reactivity isn’t always caused by “bad owners.”
Many reactive dogs are frustrated, underconfident or struggling emotionally in certain environments

And the owners handling them?
Most are trying harder than anybody realises!!!

If you own a reactive dog and constantly feel embarrassed, stressed or judged on walks just know you are not alone 🧡

Reactive dog owners understand how mentally exhausting it can be carrying that pressure every single day.

Sometimes what owners need most isn’t judgement…
It’s support, understanding and the confidence to know progress is possible with the correct guidance 🧡

Beautiful 8 month old Border Terrier who joined us for a 2 hour reactivity 1:1 session 🐾

This little Border was struggling with both on lead and off lead reactivity, and her owner was beginning to lose confidence handling certain situations out on walks

But after just 2 hours… look at the difference 🧡

A huge part of her behaviour wasn’t about being “bad” or “aggressive” - she simply had too much freedom to make decisions herself without enough guidance or direction from her owner. Once we introduced clearer communication, better lead handling skills and more structured guidance, everything started to change 👏🏼

We worked on:
✔️ Lead manners
✔️ Handling techniques
✔️ Engagement around distractions
✔️ Building owner confidence

And the result? A calmer, more focused dog and an owner who now feels far more confident managing her 💪

Reactive dogs don’t need to avoid the world- they need clear leadership, consistency and owners who understand how to guide them properly 🐶

This gorgeous Border Terrier absolutely smashed her session, and I’ve seen her since then… she’s continuing to do amazing 🧡

Is the stress of your reactive dog becoming too much? 🐾

The barking, lunging, overthinking every walk, avoiding other dogs… it can feel exhausting 😔

One of the dogs from our Reactivity Reset Bootcamp is now safely socialising with SEVEN other dogs after previously struggling around them 👀🐶

Change is possible with the right support, structure and guidance.

This was Rio yesterday after a full day indoors, staying in the shade and mainly sleeping (apart from quick toilet breaks in the garden) 🥵

And honestly… he, along with the rest of the pack, were completely worn out from the heat

That’s despite having
Cool indoor areas
Constant access to shade (having an internal door to our garage has been a life saver)
Fresh water
Plenty of rest

Now imagine how they would feel if I’d taken them for a walk yesterday afternoon… like so many dogs I had seen out 😡🤯

It honestly blows my mind that when it’s raining, hardly anyone walks their dogs but the second the sun comes out, the streets are full of them

I completely understand that we all enjoy the nice weather and want our dogs to enjoy life with us too but this heat can be SO dangerous for them

Yesterday I couldn’t even step onto my back patio barefoot because the ground was scorching. Now imagine your dog walking on boiling pavements

And burnt paws are only ONE danger.

Heatstroke in dogs can happen incredibly quickly and can become fatal fast

Please remember:
If it feels too hot for you, it’s too hot for them
Walk early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are lower
Avoid walking during peak daytime heat
Keep them indoors in cool shaded areas
Offer plenty of fresh water and enrichment at home instead

Yes, it means getting up earlier than normal sometimes… but this is part of what we sign up for when we commit to owning dogs. Their safety and wellbeing should always come first

Please keep your pets safe this week as the hot weather is meant to continue 🧡

Please share this post - we need more owners to understand just how dangerous walking dogs in this heat can be
