🆕 New arrival — 2x Red Atabapo Pike Cichlid (Crenicichla sp. Atabapo) | 13" specimens | Live Auction

These just arrived on a fresh tranship and they are exceptional. The Atabapo locality is one of the most prized among Crenicichla collectors — deep, saturated red colouration, a bold lateral stripe, and a presence in the water that genuinely stops you in your tracks.

At 13" these are large, fully grown adults. Wild-caught from blackwater tributaries in the Atabapo river system (Colombia/Venezuela border region), which is exactly what produces that colouration intensity you won't get from tank-raised stock.

Fresh import, just landed. Hoplias aimara is one of those fish that genuinely earns the 'apex predator' label — a massive, muscular ambush hunter from South American river systems, with a jaw structure and strike speed that make feeding time genuinely startling.

What to know before you bid:
• Needs 8×3ft minimum — this fish uses the space
• Solo specimen only — no tankmates survive long-term
• Blackwater setup suits them well: low pH, tannin-stained water, heavy driftwood cover
• Feeding: chunky whole prey items, chunky meaty pellets (Hikari Massivore works well once trained)

We don't use the word rare loosely — but a Snow White Pearl Stingray of this calibre is genuinely hard to source.

This male has just arrived at MTF, cleared quarantine, and is now live on 7-day silent auction. He's measuring 11–12" disc — a fully mature specimen — with a strikingly clean pearl-white dorsal pattern and excellent body condition throughout.

Snow White Stingrays represent one of the most refined colour morphs in the freshwater stingray hobby. The near-complete absence of melanin across the disc is the result of careful, multi-generational selective breeding. Fish of this quality are not a regular stock item — when they come in, there's one, and then there isn't.

• Minimum 6×4ft (approx. 720L) footprint with smooth-edged aquascape
• Fine, soft sand substrate — coarse gravel will damage the disc underside

Lepisosteus platyrhincus is already a distinctive species: elongated body, armoured ganoid scales, and an ambush-hunting style that makes it a serious centrepiece fish. This colour form adds vivid crimson and amber tones that set it apart from anything you'd find at a wholesaler.

Fresh stock in: Black Arowana (Osteoglossum ferreirai), 12–13 inches — 6 available at £250 each.

This is one of the more demanding species we carry, and we'll be straight with you about that. O. ferreirai is the rarer, darker South American cousin of the Silver Arowana — found in the Rio Negro and its blackwater tributaries. Juveniles arrive with striking banding that fades to a deep gunmetal as they mature. Adults regularly reach 90cm+ in captivity, and they grow quickly.

📐 Tank: minimum 6×2ft footprint to start, larger as they grow
💧 Water: blackwater conditions, pH 5.5–7.0, 26–30°C, soft (under 8 dGH)
🍖 Feeding: surface-feeding predator — live insects, prawns, earthworms; wean onto Hikari Massivore or similar large sticks over time
🔒 Lids: secure, heavy, no gaps — they jump. Full stop.

These are not a fish for a community tank or a 4ft setup. If you have the space and the setup, they are genuinely remarkable animals.
