It’s no secret that these three are my favourite trio of black Labs 🖤 I don’t get to see them often, but when I do it’s always a party! They’re all so different in their own ways, but they share a love of swimming and absolutely adore their food… although one might love it a little more than the other two 🫣

Last week, I had the absolute pleasure of a sleepover with Oreo & Biscuits. Two little angels who were so well behaved. Although one of them did decide to give me a mini heart attack (see the last photo…)we enjoyed plenty of cuddles & a lovely sunny walk the next morning. Their little legs were going at full speed as we approached the field 🥹💛

Today, Baloo and Nyla were introduced to one another, & all went wonderfully. They had lots of fun exploring the fields together and took turns chasing each other around.

When dogs are playing nicely, it’s lovely to see the chasing go both ways. If one dog is always doing the chasing, it can become a bit too much and it’s pestering rather than being a fun game for both. Thankfully, these two got the balance just right and had a great time together.

The cheeky pair also decided that rolling in fox poo would be a fantastic idea... and they both took turns doing that too… dont worry they were cleaned up before heading home although the journey back was still a little on the smelly side 🫣

I’m looking forward to many more adventures with these two.

Have a lovely weekend, everyone!

Something that dog walkers and pet professionals don’t often talk about...

When a client books a regular weekly slot, that space is reserved specifically for them. It means turning away other enquiries for the same day and time, carrying out administration, completing paperwork, arranging a meet and greet, planning routes, and committing that space in the diary.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a misconception that dog walking is something that can be cancelled at the last minute without consequence. We are running businesses & our cancellation policies exist for a reason.
Most of my clients are absolutely fantastic. They respect my time, my work, and the commitments they’ve made, and I’m incredibly grateful for every one of them.

However, there are occasions when people book services, repeatedly cancel at short notice, disappear without communication, or ignore agreed terms and invoices. What many don’t see is the additional time spent chasing payments, sending reminders, and dealing with paperwork that follows.

Cancellation policies aren’t about being difficult. They’re there to protect small businesses from the financial impact of reserving time that could have been offered to another client.

A little communication, consideration and respect goes a long way. To my wonderful clients who value and support small businesses, thank you. It never goes unnoticed.

I didn't expect my post about Baloo to reach as many people as it did. Thank you to everyone who has shown support and to those who have reached out to share similar experiences.

It was a very scary situation and not something I ever expected to happen, especially as I am extremely careful on warm days. I say warm because 20 degrees is warm, not what most people would consider a hot day.

Anyone who knows me personally, or has trusted me with their dogs, knows how seriously I take their welfare. The dogs in my care always come first and are treated like my own.

I've seen some negative comments and attempts to make me feel guilty. The reality is that, of course, I felt awful about what happened. However the important thing is that I recognised there was a problem, acted immediately, and Baloo received the care he needed.

I've also seen comments suggesting that, as a dog walker I should be setting a good example. For context I introduced a warm weather policy last year because I take heat related risks seriously. I regularly adjust or cancel walks when temperatures rise, and the welfare of the dogs in my care will always come first.

I personally see dogs being walked locally by professionals in temperatures above 21 degrees and sometimes as high as 25 degrees, yet my policy has always been to take a cautious approach. That's why I find some of the criticism out of order when I've consistently tried to put the dogs wellbeing first.

I also want to address people who have been resharing my post and adding captions such as, "This is why on hot days we cancel walks and replace them with pop in visits."

While everyone is entitled to run their business as they see fit, I don't appreciate my experience being used to promote someone else's business. More importantly, the situation is being taken out of context. It was not a hot day, and the circumstances are being misrepresented!!!!

The reason I shared Baloo's story wasn't to make excuses. It was to raise awareness that heat related issues can occur even on days that many people would consider average days. If sharing our experience helps another dog owner or dog walker recognise the signs early and act quickly, then something positive can come from it.

Thank you again for all the support, kind messages and well wishes for Baloo.

Last week I had the pleasure of looking after Mojo and Chewy on their parents’s wedding day. 💍

It was a very warm day, so we kept our outings short to make sure the boys stayed comfortable. We also popped back to the venue throughout the day so they could spend time with their family whenever appropriate. They were both such good boys, they definitely missed their mum and found it a little difficult to settle at times, so plenty of sofa cuddles were required.

If you’re getting married and need help with your dogs on your special day, we offer wedding day chaperoning and can adapt our service to suit your requirements.

HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE ✨

It’s looking much cooler this week, which is lovely, I certainly can’t complain! It’s going to be a decent temperature on Sunday, and hopefully the clouds will go away and the sun will make a full appearance so I can go out on the paddle board!

The towels will be back out and at the ready, so please don’t leave raincoats or fleeces for your dogs. It’s warm enough without them, and they’ll be dried off at the end of their walk if they get wet.

Have a great week everyone! 🫶🏻
