PLEASE READ & SHARE!!! 📢⚠️

Heat Stroke - earlier this week we had our first heat stroke case of the summer. A very gorgeous Labrador Retriever required emergency treatment. With the fast action of his Owner and the expert care he received we are pleased to say that Rufus has made a full recovery.

Important steps to avoid heat stroke in Pets:
🥾Take very early or late walks with your dog
💨keep your pets inside during the hottest parts of the day, with fans in their favourite areas and use cooling aids
💦Keep them hydrated - extra water bowls and pack a water bottle for all walks and trips
🥶Frozen treats
🚘Avoid travel in cars - use air conditioning for important trips and take water
✂️Regular grooming, brushing

Please visit the following Royal Veterinary College webpage for the signs to look out for, first aid guides, and preventative tips: https://www.rvc.ac.uk/small-animal-vet/teaching-and-research/fact-files/heatstroke-in-dogs-and-cats

If you think your pet is suffering from heatstroke, call 01453 752555 and select option 1 for our emergency line.

A common Myth - using a wet towel over your pet helps to keep them cool. 🚫🚫 DO NOT DO THIS - IT TRAPS HEAT IN, WORSENING SYMPTOMS!!

Our Story

Welcome to the Clockhouse Vets page! The page is run by Me (Sarah-Jane) and our Practice Manager (Sarah McKee)

I thought I had better introduce myself!

"I started at Clockhouse in 2015 when I made the scary decision to ditch my safe but unsatisfactory office job and chase my dream. I have always been passionate about animal care and I am currently working as a Student Veterinary Nurse. My love for animals doesn't stop at work though. I own, what many people have called, 'a small zoo' ranging from small and furry to long and scaly. So it's 24/7 animals for me and I wouldn't have it any other way! I feel proud and privileged to work for Clockhouse Vets, our team is amazing and no day is the same -we just never know what is going to come through those doors. I hope that through this page I can give you an insight into life in the hospital and show off some of our gorgeous visitors ... the non human ones that is!" Thank you for supporting our Clockhouse Page, it's lovely to get the feedback and comments that we have been getting. We hope you continue to enjoy the stories that we post - especially the new Sylvester Sunday...I have a feeling that Sylvester's following is about to get a whole heap bigger....! Thanks again Sarah-Jane ###
