International Women's Day ♀️
I've decided in honour of this important day to share some photos with you that make me smile and will hopefully make you smile also.
Those of you who are trainers will understand me fully when I say that this career is not for the faint hearted. To some, it looks like playing with puppies and smiling all the time and you know what, at times it is. But, depending on the kind of dogs you work with, a whole heap of the time it isn't like that. Most of the time I work with are reactive and aggressive dogs. Dogs that can severely injure you.
I don't get bitten all the time, as that would mean I'm doing something wrong quite honestly. I've been bitten badly twice, including claw puncture wounds. The last injury (September 2024k led to me having nerve, muscle, tendon and ligament damage in my left arm (I've been told it will never fully heal), muscle and nerve damage in my right leg and the same in my abdomen. I love this job, this life. But it has taken things away from me. So much so that there have been times that I've nearly walked away from it. It can also, at times, be lonely if you don't have staff etc. Even when you know other trainers. However, it also gives me freedom. Freedom to spend my time with dogs, and people. Freedom to be my own boss (as scary as that is at times). Freedom to learn more everyday. Freedom to not be chained to a desk (some people enjoy this and that is fantastic. However, I most definitely do not).
Whatever you do, make sure you're passionate about it, at least in part. Life is too short to not.
Us women are bloody good at sh*t too!
