Just a short moment from our life. 🧡 Z**i is now learning a few commands in one go. Selfie is one of them. And she knows so much of them already; words, commands, tricks. She’s such a smart girl. I always smile when we get comments by the door from couriers, or other people: oh she’s so well behaved, what a good dog! - Well, she’s always been a good dog, all dogs are. She didn’t change. I changed.

This year I’ve learned everything I can about dogs, animals, and ethology. How dogs think, behave, what they need, and what they want. I’ve learned her language. Boy was I wrong on so many levels for many years thinking this and that about dogs and that I know how to raise them and how to be a dog owner.

We are a team! And now we are training everyday. She’s not a fearful reactive dog. The same dog that last year was too scared to walk in the dark outside, is now exploring the darkest corners with excitement. There is no punishment in this house. I thank her when she barks and lets me know that something is happening behind the door. I praise her when she chases a bird. She’s not scared of fireworks, and she’s happy when the thunder is full on blasting the sky.

And I say ‘I get you’ when she shows me something verbally or physically. There’s no ‘you have to do this’, ‘you must’, ‘you can’t’, ‘No’, ‘don’t do this’. There’s no forcing to meet others, or to do something she doesn’t want. All there is in our house is ‘yes!’, ‘thank you’, ‘good girl’, ‘would you like something?’ and ‘do you want to do this?’.

I wish I’d known about these things sooner. But you cannot blame. We are doing the best with the tools that we’re given. All I can do now is to show you a bit of a glimpse and energy of our joy, love, and happiness. And I hope Z**i makes you smile, the way we’re learning now to do a ‘Selfie’, and keep her head high. She’s such a smart dog!

We as humans are blessed to be with them. Dogs, cats, all animals. It’s so beautiful to learn from them, I am learning from Z**i everyday.
