Good afternoon folks of horsey freak club. Henry from Henry Carnall Farrier services here; I'm offering a reliable regular farrier service in the northland area.
I am the only UK trained and qualified farrier (holding the diploma of the worshipful company of farriers) working within the northland area, offering a vast range of shoeing skills ranging from youngsters to retirees in pretty much every discipline, ranging from dressage to racing and everything in between. I have 10 years of experience working in the industry working along side such farriers as dr Simon Curtis FWCF and Dr mark Caldwell FWCF. Dealing with such things as limb deformity's in youngsters, horses in heavy work competing at top levels to serious remedial cases.

Based just north of Whangarei I travel to kaitia to kaiwaka and from east to west coast, possibly to wellsford depending on if I can make a run down that far work.

A couple form a new client, last week. I was presented with a standard cob that has become arthritic and is tripping. So I modified an NWT concave front to give him a helping hand. I applied an uncipped rocker toe front with the outer border of the concave bevelled off to allow him to have an omnidirectional break over and spooned heels to give him a more supportive landing and loading platform.

I went to a lovely call the other day to Amy Foster and Tara Foster there to trim both of there horses, over in duffeild and was treated to a tub of duffeild dolop. Both horses were really good to trim and the cream went down a treat when I got home.

A new customer from this week. This little pony was well over due for a trim. Excessive foot length can cause major issues such as lesions, strains and ruptures for the horses muscles, tendons and ligaments. Regular trimming is vital to keep your horse sound and able to work to its full potential.

Mew customer from the beginning of the week. Kept it nice and simple with a set of fullered concave shoes. Shod to a 8 week shoeing cycle. The application of fullered concave allows the farrier to apply a shoe that offers the maximum amount of grip whilst still being the lightest steel show that can be applied. The concave edge on the shoes inner border is a self cleaning mechanism built into the shoe, this only occurs at a higher speed gait (gallop) and the self cleaning is done at height of extension on each limb.

From my smallest customers around 10 weeks ago to my biggest customer today. Billy the sweetest shire horse mare, she’s an absolute pleasure to trim, her owner Jolie Carnall was thinking about entering her into some in hand working horse shows. So watch this space

Something you see everyday. Shoeing in Evesham park the other day. A traditional square going cob. Shod in heavy 3/4 fullered shoes. Being overlooked by the owners family out on their holidays. Camping in bow top caravans that he’d driven there with this lovely cob.
