Feeling very appreciated 🐴💙

Earlier this week one of my client’s horses sadly started to colic. Thankfully I had brought them in from the field and noticed straight away and I was able to walk them around until the owner came and we administered electrolytes and Buscopan. Im so happy to say Flo soon got back to feeling her usual self.

I was given the loveliest card and a voucher as a thank you, which was completely unexpected and very kind. It really means a lot to know the trust my clients put in me with their horses, and gestures like this remind me why I love what I do.

Bit of a change from the usual horse content… I’ve got three dogs staying with me this weekend – Peggy, Peanut, and Poppy 🐶🐾

It’s been non-stop wagging tails and a bit of chaos, but I’m loving it! They’ve definitely made themselves at home 😂

🌞 Top Tips for Keeping Your Horse Cool in the Heat! 🐴💦

🕗 Ride Smart
Plan your rides early in the morning or later in the evening when it’s cooler. Avoid working your horse in the midday heat when the sun is strongest.

💧 Hydration is key
Make sure your horse has access to fresh, clean water at all times. Check water troughs or buckets often — horses can drink more than 25 litres a day in hot weather!

⚡ Electrolyte Support
If your horse is sweating, they’re losing essential salts. Consider adding electrolytes to their feed or water to help replenish what’s lost and support recovery.

🌳 Shade & Shelter
Ensure your horse has access to shaded areas or a well-ventilated stable. Trees, shelters, or even a fly sheet can help protect them from the sun.

🚿 Cool-Down Routine
After exercise, hose your horse down with cool (not freezing) water and scrape off the excess — this helps them cool faster. Repeat as needed.

🪰 Watch for Heat Stress
Keep an eye out for signs of overheating: rapid breathing, lethargy, excessive sweating, or refusal to eat. If in doubt, contact your vet.
